Randy Weaver's family (Wife, teenaged son, family dog) was slaughtered by the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms, US Marshalls Service and FBI (specifically a FBI sniper) after he was illegally entrapped into commiting a non-violent technical firearms offense after two years of them trying to get him to break the law.

The fault of the government was clearly established in that payments were made to the survivors of the incident to settle the lawsuits filed against the government after the event. The FBI sniper was charged but not prosecuted for the murders.

You must be referring to DAVID KORESH of the Branch Davidian at the Waco Tragedy.

For relevant information, search Yahoo using the keywords "David Koresh", "Branch Davidian" or "Waco Tragedy".

This one link is pretty comprehensive. http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/waco/
