I have severe anxiety and depression, was actually diagnosed with Social Anxiety Disorder as a child. I know that Lexapro (10 mg) is supposed to have the least side affects. But now, instead of feeling really anxious, I'm bawling like a baby all the time. Any ideas about other medications would be welcome. Yes, I'm going to have my doctor prescribe me something else.

I have severe anxiety and depression, also panic disorder and social anxiety. Zoloft has been an absolute life saver for me! Definately try it. It conquers multiple things at once- the depression, and the anxiety.

DONT try:

Welbutrin
Seroquel
And Paxil is good, but not as good for severe cases.

Meds take LOTS of time to work with. It took me an entire year to work with my Zoloft. I am on 175 mg and it was definately worth the years wait of working with it!

lexapro does take a while to work. it took me 4 weeks, and i didn't have any side effects that i notice. sounds to me that the drug hasn't kicked in or your dose isn't high enough. you should see your doc about increasing your dose, which he or she should suggest anyway. if this doesn't work there are a bunch of other drugs that you can try. just stay at it, don't give up until you get results. my g/f has gone through many meds and doses before she found ones that worked. i'm sure you can do the same. good luck

Please go see your doctor immediately. You sound like you are in crisis. Lexapro is an anti-depressant, one of many that your doctor can prescribe for you. How long have you been on it? It does take three to six weeks to build up in the blood stream. At the very minimum, call your doctor right away. You are important! God bless.
