I'm trying to train my son now. Big boy underwear got him excited, but he still didn't go. The same thing with the stickers. I just kept asking him everyday if he needed to go. I think being persistent is the key. Get him up in the morning when you know he should have to go, and make him get on the potty. Once he finally does it once and you make a huge deal about how good he did, it will really motivate him. Now my son really enjoys putting his stickers on the chart although we're still not trained.

First of all, make sure he is ready. If he's not, nothing you can do will force him to go. Choose a day when you and him can stay home all together. On that day tell him that he is a big boy and no longer wears baby diapers and put him in a pair of "big boy" pants (underwear). Spend the day playing games, reading books, etc. Be sure to give him lots of fluids. Take him to the bathroom every 30 mins. Eventually, he will go to the bathroom. I started off training my son to sit instead of stand. Instead of stickers, I rewarded by making a line on his arm with a WASHABLE marker everytime he pottied in the toliet. By the end of the day he had an armful of lines to show his dad. He was so proud.

Hope this helps...good luck!

I know it sounds silly, but training a child is almost like training a puppy. After they drink wait about 15 minutes and go to the potty to "try". Maybe go at the same time as him the first couple of times so he knows that this is "potty time". There are also plastic float rings like you use in the pool to put in your toilet. They are big so they won't go down when you flush and you can have him try to aim inside the hole of the ring. Make a game of it and reward him if he makes it. Children really do want to please you, so praise, praise, praise. Good Luck!

Believe it or not, when my daughter was potty trained, I had seen a Dr. Phil show about potty training. Well, he said to get a doll that peed. Have her feed it and tell her it has to potty and when it peed in the potty, she was so fascinated that she was potty trained that day! :-)

But boys are different than girls, but if it was me, I'd try it out. what's it gonna hurt?

Also, maybe try letting him run around with nothing on. Some kids absolutely hate the feel of pee running down their leg.

Hope that helps! -- Laura Kay

you could try a sticker/reward chart. Every time he goes potty, he gets a sticker. At the end of the week if he has stickers on each day he gets a reward. My son used to get to choose a small toy (like from the $ store) or pick out where we went to dinner one night (When my son was 2 and potty training we ate at McDonald's a lot!). Lots of patience and lots of rewards. Good luck!

The best way to potty train, far less expensive than all those new potty training disposable diapers, is to keep the kid's bottom naked for a good part of most days. This makes her/him more aware of bodily functions and more likely to respond to 'accidents' by making a run for the potty. it's up to you to show them that the potty would prevent such accidents.

Of course this only works in warm conditions. And I wouldn't try it in public.

Well the easiest way to do it is play a game. Sit in there with him and sing a song or read a book . This might take a few times to do. Be patient, he will go. When he does make a big deal out of it clap your hands jump up and down and praise him for doing a good job. Do this for a few weeks and he will be potty trained. Hope this helps you out and have fun with your boy..........Flo

Back off a bit. If you force the issue he's more likely to shun away from it. Don't pressurise him into using it, just leave it handy where he can see it and maybe play with it (sounds funny - always good as helmets to start with) then eventually, when he's ready he'll just use it one day and away you go.

If you keep at him he won't do a thing and it will take you longer to conquer the whole potting training thing. Good luck.

my son is 3 1/2 and we are still working on it. I tried everything. I reward my son with stickers and he now know if he gets so many he gets a special treat/ toy out of the spacial box. it seems to be working. Also I found these new pull-ups that get cool when they pee. Here is the website for those and there is tips for parents. http://www.pull-ups.com/na/products/coolalert.asp Hope this helps.

my lil bro is n the process of bein potty trained and we told him he gets like a lil peice of candy or somethin every time he pees or if he poops like 5 times without havein an accident he gets a new toy from wal~mart. so try rewardin him and put underwear on him cuz hell relieze that he doesnt like the feeling of wet pants and stinking and learn when he needs to go to sit on the potty chair. and let him read a book or watch tv and sit with ever1 else so he doent feel alone but dont all concentrate on him cuz how would u like it if every1 was watchin u take care of buisness?!

hope i helped and good luck!
