A "Sunday driver" drives as if he is sightseeing. Back in the day when say my mom was a kid in the 30s up to maybe the early 60s, people used to actually get in the car and go for a "Sunday drive." They tend to go to the country, drive slow, and see what there was around to see. Of course, we don't do that now, especially with gas prices as they are.

the phrase dates to 1925 and refers to people taking a liesurely sunday drive on which they drive really slowly and annoy all those around them.
