The reason doesn't really matter because in the end if the young woman couldn't or wouldn't take care of the child it is good if it has a good and loving home. I was adopted. A very young woman, 16 years old, still in school. She tried to care for me. But ended up putting me up for adoption. The only problem I could see in this instance is if the family relation is close it is important as the child gets older the truth. Nobody should have to live a lie.

They used to do that all the time where the baby was adopted by a family member. Sometimes the mother of the gal giving birth adopted the baby as her own with the child growing up in the same home as its biological mother and not knowing that the sister was actually the mother.

How fortunate for the child that a relative was able to adopt. Perhaps the young woman felt too emotionally distraught to be able to care for the child. Who knows what kind of arrangements were made with the adoptive parents. Maybe she was hoping that by having a relative involved she might be able to be part of the child's life in the future. I guess for her, she made the right decision.

In High School a girl got pregnant and her parents adopted the baby and raised it as a brother to the mother.
I am not sure how it is now but she was only like 16 when she had the kid so they just pretended it was her brother.

i think its a very real scenario, andi have to agree with the first 2 answers, adoption is beautiful thing,in so many cases its the most unselfish thing a person can do. i was a relinquished baby, which basically means my birth mum gave me up as soon as i was born, she gave a very loveing family the chance to love and cherish a child(me) something they wud never have had without her help, ive since meet my birth mum.im lucky i have a very happy story!!

If that's there story they have a right to stick to it..
What difference does it make anyway..
The important point is that a family member took this baby.
So it will always know it's true family..
These are special people to do that for this child
skippybuttkn... I agree with you
I have an adopted Grandson
From Day one my daughter read adoption books to him
and as he got older explained that
That he was born to a mother that loved him enough
to want the best for him
He was born to her by birth and
Was born to us in our Hearts..
One day we will answer the question of who she was
when he wants to know

i think that she did what she thought best for the baby that he could have a real family with a mom and a dad. but should always keep in touch. i think that the relative took in because they might have felt her pain and or didn't want the baby to go to far. but in the end she will always be with the baby to love and care for at times no she might not live to what she did but she loved the baby to much to give to a real family.

It's actually pretty common. I do home health and take care of kids who are living with relaties other than their moms. It's not a secret thing. DSS looks for family members before they have to put them in foster care. It's much better for the kids.

I'm not sure how that's sad... but it makes me wonder and think how the child will react if it (I don't know if it's a he or she) finds out later in life that it's mom is actually his "aunt" or something if they never tell it who its real parents are. :(
