Live in a secular society in which Christianity was persecuted, but thrived in an underground devoted community of believers,
- or -
Live in a society where it was "cool" to be Christian, resulting in thousands (if not millions) going to church and thinking they are saved but they actually aren't.

Cause when I read questions from people saying they are fed-up with Christianity not having a voice in society I question wether or not people realize the reality of the society we live in, a society were the reputation of our God and king is in shambles due to people claiming to be Christian for social/political reasons who wouldn't do so if being a Christian wasn't comfortable.

Hmmm...that's a very interesting question. After thinking about it for a couple of minutes, I'd have to say I'd rather live in the secular society in which Christianity was persecuted - kind of like Yahoo Answers :). Fake Christians anger me as much as they anger non-Christians. While it may be easier to 'fit into' a society that thinks being a Christian is cool, it may ultimately turn off more people because of it's insincerity. I think my faith would thrive if I had a core group of friends and family to worship with that I knew were just as passionate about their faith as I am. Excellent question! Now I'm starting to re-think my position again :)

Edited to add: I just took the question at face value and didn't try to decide what 'should' and 'shouldn't' be.

Actually RJ, I think that there is a pattern to both ways of thinking in that both are self-serving. The focus isn't on anything but the circumstances. What I understand about Christianity is that I am not the center of the world. And that the world is not my home.

So in these days where persecution of any kind pales in comparison to the way Christians used to be persecuted by, I think that we have it pretty good. At least last time I checked, there hasn't been any Christian flayed with a whip until the veins of his arms were hanging on the ground, or put in a gunny sack with scorpions and venomous snakes, beaten, and then rowed out in the ocean to be dropped in while still in the sack.

So to your question I would answer neither. I'll take what comes my way here, the way it is now.

I beliee many Christians are spending too much time whinning about politics. They act as if God isn't going to do anything, and they are distracted from practicing faith by all the issues, not trusting god as they should.

Just my opinion.

I chose the first. It makes a much better testimony when Christians have to and are willing to put thier lives on the line for thier faith than to have Christianity as a pop-culture. This is why Christianity spreads like wildfire in many oppressive third world countries.

Christianity does have more devout followers in countries that persecute them. In China for example, 1,300 people convert every hour! That's about 11.5 million every year and that's some serious stuff! Yet there are more christians in jail there then in any other country. I regret to say that in Christian countries like the U.S and European nations, the churcc is dying. But yeah, nobody wants god until they desperately need him. THat's kinda sad, but ti's the way it is.

Awesome question

1 side of me would love to see this revival - 2 Chronicles 7:14
Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and heal their land.

a whole land of true christians.

sorry fact is that will not happen, the bible tells me I will be persecuted, because Jesus was too. Therefor if I am not persecuted, I am doing something wrong. I will follow Jesus, and carry my cross daily.

Long Live God

Awesome question!

"In this world you will have tribulation, but be of good cheer, for I have overcome the world."
Jesus

If it were readily accepted ANYWHERE, then God would be a liar. And that won't happen. Soooooooooo---- I choose persecution now, because I know it is His will!

Christianity and Judaism worship the one true god. Dirty Muslims only pray to a idol( a large black stone, inside a box inside a PAGAN temple called the Kaaba) I'd rather be a Christian thanks

And they shouldn't be. I read somewhere that a church is supposed to be a life raft not a cruise ship.
