I am not afraid I go and I have had experiences where I have sweat through my clothes...could not walk out of the office...and I was trembling so from the saw that was used on a crown that was not put on correctly.!!

but I still go because that's what we as grown ups must do and hope the dentist does not screw up! good luck.

Yes, I'm terrified. My fear comes from having a bad experience with a dentist when I was a child. I think any bad experience with a dentist can make you dread going again. I now have a dentist who is gentle and who I trust. Ask around for a referral. You don't need to torture yourself by facing a dentist who scares you. Find one you can be comfortable with. Most dentists will give you an Rx for a tranquilizer to take before you see them. Then you need someone to drive you because you will be spacy. It's important to take care of your teeth. The more you neglect them, the worse they get, the worse is the dental treatment, and the more it costs.

I never used to be, but recently I had a very bad toothache and a root canal (which was great). I got better because of the dentist, but the intense pain that I was in made me have a reaction to going back. When I went back in I couldn't stop shaking, and I guess I was scared even though I know better.

I like my dentist, he's great, funny and does a fantastic job, but the situation made me fearful.

The only way past the fear is to go in anyway,...
Good luck!
Happy smiling.

Fear of the dentist is very common and very understandable. But keep things in perspective. It is much easier to handle preventative treatment - going to your dentist twice a year for a cleaning and a check up is much less painful for you mentally and on your wallet. But if you have any underlying hidden issues with your mouth, you wont ever know until it is too late, and then more trips to the dentist to fix those problems.
The dentist is there to help you! dont be scared!

Don't be afraid of the dentist. They are going to help you take good care of your teeth and you will have a beautiful smile by listening to, and following, their advice. Tell your parents how you feel, and the dentist, too. They will show you that there is nothing to be afraid of. Best wishes.

naaah. first of all, the dentist will not kill you so no need to be afraind of him/her. second, the dentist is there to help you fix your teeth. and thirdly, if the procedure hurts, just think of the end, that you'll have better-looking teeth.

dentistry is like life, you have to go through pain in order to experience pleasure.
