Elkins, West Virginia is a cool place to visit in October. They have an awsome October Festival. They have food, 2-3 good size parades, a lumber jack contest, and much more. I think that the actual festival lasts all week long.

Gatlinburg, Tennessee, gateway to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, offers groups a one-stop destination to enjoy four-season fun. Located within a day's drive of two-thirds of the American population east of the Mississippi River, Gatlinburg and the Great Smoky Mountains feature a beautiful spot of pampered civilization nestled in one of the last tracts of unspoiled wilderness in the eastern United States.

Explore the new 1.3 million gallon Ripley's Aquarium of the Smokies, ride the country's largest aerial tram to the top of Ober Gatlinburg, shop at over 400 unique shops, galleries and boutiques or travel the 8-mile loop of the Great Smoky Arts & Crafts Community, the largest gathering of independent artisans in the country.

Gatlinburg...the place that puts the smile on your face. Tennessee is lovly in the fall.

how cold you want??just the chiller or freezer??october is still autumn,it won`t be so cold though.go to japan, nice and cool.can juz make do with sweatshirts or sweaters.canada is great too.especially in the morning,go for a walk or jog @ stanley park.if you could wait later, even nicer to go canada in december so that you can go skiing @ whistler mountain.that was what i did other than snowmobiling @ cougar mountain.when you`re up there, nothing else matters.the view is so breathtaking and it makes you feel so good to be above the sea level.trust me man.
