No, your sister will not cause bowlegs. All infants are born slightly bowlegged. When the infant is upright with its feet together, there should be about 1.5 inches in between its knees. A child's legs will generally straighten by 18 months of age.
Your sister will probably not cause her child any harm, but a baby is simply unable to walk at four months. They do not have the gross motor ability. The child should definitely be allowed and encouraged to roll around on the floor and sit up as much as he/she wants. It is counter-productive for your sister to keep her child from its normal developmental tasks by 'teaching it how to walk' Her child will learn in his/her own time. Hope this helps.

She can try to teach her to walk, but her little legs cannot support the weight of her body for at least another 5 or 6 months. At four months she can be held so that it looks like she is walking, but if you stopped supporting her weight she would fall down. Let her crawl, scoot, scat, and take her own time with walking. The bow-legged thing, as far as I know, can be caused by early pressure on bodies that cannot yet support their weight. Also, make sure the child does not spend too much time in the "W" sitting position -- this is known to be detrimental.

NO, children get bowlegged from people always putting their child on their hip...teaching them to walk is building muscle in their legs. My son is 4 mo old and we always try to have him walk, we know he wont beable to yet b/c hes not even crawling but NO that does not cause a child to be bowlegged

I have heard it to be true.. But 4 month is way too early and could damage the babies growing legs and muscles.. I think it is best to let the child teach themselves.. their bodies know better than we do, when they are ready. Its not a contest, your sister wont win an award if her child walks at 4 months.

Don't know but usually when the child FEELS strong enough it'll start waalking on its own-I think 4mos is a bit soon and may be true for doubt muscles stri=ong enough yet,as also bones may still be too weak. If nutrition and everything is normal in caring for the baby then let the child progress on its own as most will do-rush and you may cause stress to a child and hinder normal development. Patience.Nature is great for everything is programmed just right. If in doubt consult your Pediatircian and follow his directions.I'm no health professional but 4mos is WAY too soon.

4 months is way to early to walk..You should wait until the baby can stand up while holding on to things and then teach it how to walk..I have heard it was true but never had a baby to see if it was

you have to crawl before you can walk. I can't believe anyone would try to get a 4 month old to walk. forget about the boelegs, the baby does'nt have the muscles yet. after it will stand alone hanging on to a chair, thats the time to worry about teaching it to walk for heavens sake.

Bowlegs or not, do you force a baby animal to walk? Let nature take it's course and don't involve yourself.
