Unless his health is in danger, you don't..Accept him as he is,I'm sure you're not perfect...

Do you not like him for how he is? My girlfriend and I both agree that we have gained a little weight during the years, but we still love each other and it has not changed our feelings for each other. You have to make sure it is the right time to mention this kind of thing. Be careful how you word it, for example, don't bring it up in an argument. You don't want him to get mad at you regardless or he's likely to say some hurtful things he'll regret back out of defense. Why not wait until the conversation comes up or maybe he'll just do it on his own. Maybe you two could try doing things like going to a gym, taking walks, etc. Don't just mention it to him point blank.

Well, telling someone they need to lose weight is usually the quickest way to make them start stuffing their face.

Was he overweight when you started dating him? If so, you can't expect him to change just because you want him to. An overweight person knows they are overweight and pointing that out to them just makes them feel like crap and does nothing for the self esteem.

If you are really concerned about his weight for health reasons, maybe you could try cooking meals for him that are low in fat, or suggest going for a walk or something. Make it sound like it's something that YOU want to do, not something you think HE should do.

Depending on how long you have been dating, like if it's for a long time and you are really comfortable together then you probably can just tell him that he needs to loose weight. If you have been together a short time then try and adress the situation in a delicate way, tell him that maybe he shouldn't be eating certain food for health reasons.

There is no good way to do this.

It's rude to tell people that you think this or that is wrong with them. He's an adult, and you don't have the right to run his life.

Most likely, he knows what his body is like, but assumes you care more about the person than the body. If all you want is a nice bod, then stop dating him so he can find someone who really cares for him.

(I can't believe how many heartless, superficial people answered your question, but they are wrong -- it's his body, not yours. You don't have the right to change him; it's unwise to try.)

If you are generally concerned for his health let him know that's why you would like for him to lose weight. If it's a matter of physical appearance only you should lay off and look at some of your own faults and maybe you won't think you're so perfect.

Y do you think he should lose weight?? What gives you the right to tell him he needs to lose weight??? If i was him i would dump you...that's insulting and obviously you dont like him for him if you want him to change for you. What if he did that to you....how would you feel? I think that's mean.

Invite him over for salads, and make him go walking with you. Men can be just as sensitive to weight comments as women can be. You may not even have to mention it, just start involving him in more activities. Don't take "no" for an answer.

YOU AIN'T GONNA CHANGE SOMEONE WHO DOESN'T WANT TO CHANGE !!! And who are you to judge what he should weigh??

If he is truly overweight, then pick a quiet time when you are alone and politely and sensitively tell him what is bothering you. For ex, "Iggy, there is something bothering me and I am very shy to mention it to you. I am worried about your/my/our weight, and was wondering if you had noticed it lately?" "Maybe we should be eating for fruits & vegetables..., etc.,etc."

Don't be judgmental, and don't nag. Just initiate an honest discussion. If you don't like the answer, then go away and let him live his life.

Either make it fun like "lets go to the gym together" or just joke about him getting heavier. Most likely any guy will not like their girlfriends making those comments and will do something

Ask him to go with you to the gym three times a week. Tell him you want to be a Victoria Secret model. If you can do it, then he can do it too. It is you who make that body right now. It is also you who will make that body tomorrow.....
