I am not unhealthy in anyway and in fact I exercise so much that I am considered very athletic. However, I have a giant appetite and what I believe is a strong emotional attachment to food. I exercise enough so that its not problematic (i am not fat) but I could likely be ripped if I had my eating under control. I tend to have issues eating too large portions as my biggest problem. Please don't just answer saying change my emotions because to anyone with the same issue you know its not that easy.

What are some success stories with those who enjoy food so much but have learned to control it.

I eat as many fruits and vegetables as I want. As a result, I don't get big cravings anymore because (I believe) that I am finally getting what I REALLY needed nutrition wise. Eating this way has curbed my eating other things that aren't as nutritious or filling. And I've noticed that when I do eat out (where portions are gigantic in accordance to what we should be eating), I can't eat the whole thing.

Eating a good breakfast is another key at not woofing down large, not-very-nutritious meals.

Best of luck! :)

I used to be like you, really. Now, I drink so much water that it tends to turn me off from food.....

I usually eat dinner between 5 or 6..... and I dont usually eat anything else after 8..... (For portion control, use a smaller plate...) If it gets to the point where you wanna eat, then go to bed, nothing like a good nights sleep! In the morning, I eat a big breakfast, basically anything I want, from eggs, oatmeal, yogurt, fruit.. Whatever...

I lost 25 pounds eating yogurts and pecans. It seems I can eat as many as I want and I love them. I buy the vanilla yogurts and the pina colada ones from Wal-Mart. They are no fat and soo good! Then I buy 6 pounds of pecans from a local grower for $35.

I mix nuts and pecans in the yogurt and eat them whenever I want; I eat a Healthy choice dinner if I want too.
Lost 25 pounds in 6 months and that was 3 years ago! Still weigh the same.

ps I had blood tests earlier this year and my doctor said my cholesterol is unbelieveably great

I would guess that you eat 3 HUGE meals a day, rght? I used to eat the same way too. Problem is, you are prone to getting fat quickly once you start to lessen the amount of workout per day.

Have you tried eating in small amounts? What i did was i still eat the same total amount in a day. but now i ate 6-7 small meals a day. each meal is spaced 1-2 hours.

In total, i still eat a lot. but it helped me control my weight since i could easily lessen my intake for a particualr meal without sacrificing my other meals. Most of the time, i'm still full for the next meal, so what happes is that i eat a smaller amount just to satisfy that 'urge'. So i don't eat like i haven't eaten for a week anymore.

It worked for me. I hope it also works for you.
