Why is it that people are called racist for not wanting America to be overrun by illegal immigrants? How is that racist? American is not a race, it is a nationality. If the immigrants were coming by the thousands from Germany or Switzerland, we'd feel the same way. Why can't they get that it isn't about their skin color or their intelligence or anything else, it's about the fact that they are invading a country that doesn't belong to them?

Yes, that is true. If you throw the race card in, it is a great distraction. And you see? That is EXACTLY what I'm talking about. If it were Canadians, I would still have a huge problem with it. See the word "Canadians"? That means NOT "American." Maybe you don't live in a veryu culturally diverse area but I do. I'm not racist. And if they want to come here legally, good. I have no issue with that. But if we commit a crime here, we go to jail. If I had a fake SS card, I'd be in jail for like 5 years. No ifs, and or buts. So why don't they face the same repercussions?

I realize that America was founded on immigration. But you see, our forefathers weren't trying to come here, get all they could from America and then go retire in England in a few years without any contribution to the country they took from. That is what these people are trying to do. They have no interest in permanent citizenship because they don't want to BE permanent citizens. They wave Mexican flags. If they are so proud to be Mexicans, why the hell do they live here? That is an outrage and an INSULT to our forefathers and the thousands of immigrants who DO want to be Americans and who came here LEGALLY.

What you just said is not racist, but presents a reasonable and logical argument.
Unfortunately your question is not representative of the overwhelming ideas expressed in the Imigration forum on Answers! For every reasonable post there are a dozen or more that attack the illegals or slander all Mexicans. Many of the people are revealing their latent, and not so latent, racist and bigotted opinions.
Very often what is posted isn't even a question, but is a statement of hatred followed by a question mark.

Not wanting illegals invading our country is not racist whatsoever. They have no other defense so they picked up the word "racism" somewhere and ran with it.
Protecting our borders is in the Constitution and is supposed to be a duty of a president. Back in the day, this lack of regard could have called for impeachment of a president.
Illegals are entitled to welfare, education, Medicare, Social Security, etc. etc. etc. when they get here (legally and illegally)while they don't pay much in taxes because they make so little. Basically they are a tax burden on us. Americans are paying for them to come here in the millions. That's why we are so pissed off. They want something for nothing.
Read 'State of Emergency' by P. Buchanan. He covers every single facet in detail about the illegal issue. It will blow your mind.
No society has a boundless capacity to accept newcomers, especially when many are poor and unskilled (Robert Samuelson).
For those that don't agree with any of this - it's all the truth and you just cannot handle the truth. Get the facts and try and educate yourself on this issue before brushing your racist stroke.

No your opinion isnt really racism just preference. I agree that no place should illegally be overrun my any other people or thing for that matter. But if they meaning illegal immigrants did come into our country legally and contribute to the =taxes like everyone else than I dont see anything wrong with that. But as of right now it appears we arent on a level playing field because I see our hospitals and schools be abused by people everyday whom dont pay a dime to have their children educated here and that is a crime. One that is often not punished thanks to poor border control. See how easy it is to blame our problems on someone else. Dont fall into the trap.

They call you racist because they have no other weapons to use. They have no legal nor moral standing on this issue. They say they support "undocumented workers" because they know that the true label of illegal alien has negative conotations as it should. It's just a politcally correct bogus label to hide the fact that they are supporting people who have broken the law to get here and have no compunction about continuing to break our laws once they are here. THen they have fools on Yahoo answers that call us stupid for allowing it at the same time as they are promoting it. It is all just a campaign to get the media and soft hearted liberal types and industrial republican types justify allowing the illegal aliens to stay. And you know how the Race card works here if they are not white they label you racist if you disagree with anything they do legal or not if you are white. It really is racism on their part aimed at whites.

You are so right, it happens all the time on here but I am the same way, I am not racist, I am concerned about what is becoming of the United States and the legal Americans who live here.

Because for some people it is all about race and if you are Latino you'd be hyper aware that everyone thinks you're family snuck across the border when infact they have been her for generations or are legally here.
Good for you for realizing that ALL forms of illegal immigration isn't best for any nation.

Its not racist. It is a fact that when some one or some people invade your country its is called illegal. And these people like to say well its our civil right just like the African Americans. Well its not like that. They have no rights if they brake the law. They are consider to be illegal it is a fact and a statement.

I for one don't care what illegals and their supporters call me.Just make sure you call me that American whatever.
I do not and have not ever supported illegal immigrations.Nothings changed, nothing will. And certainly being called a racists is the least thing I worry about.I know who and what I am .You have a right to your own opinion of me just as I do you.I think anyone that supports illegals are doing it only because it doesn't directly affect them,or they have a vested interest,ie wife ,husband, lover, baby daddy etc.So they protest . Illegals don't have the rights of an American citizen, just human rights you are criminals.

Guess who were some of the first people to come to America???? That would be all the misfits and criminals from England, Australia and other countries that didn't want them....If you are proud of Americans, then be happy for others wanting to come in. Everyone has a right to an opinion, but so many of these and all answers are not well informed of who the colonists really were.

Being against immigration (legal or illegal) per se is not racist. However, every time an anti-immigration debate takes place, racists pop out of the woodwork and drown out rational voices.
