I have been Catholic my whole life and I respect traditions but - I think they should be able to marry.
It is not God's rule - it is the rule of the church. It was not always so. Some priests and popes were married a long time ago.
We were just in Rome and I learned that Pope Alexander (I believe) had a mistress and 2 children. Lucretia Borgia was his daughter.
I think that if priests can marry - gays and pedophiles won't be as attracted to the priesthood.

Yes. The whole principle of celibacy is based on a denigrating view of women. The Catholic Church also needs to look at the practicality of the shortage of priests. A lot of changes in the Church have taken place due to practical issues, the theology usually follows...
In spite of what people think, issues of pedophilia are not related to celibacy. Plenty of married men are sexual abusers... The majority of pedophiles are middle aged white men, often married. Pedophilia in priests is connected with a complex set of issues.

,It sure would be more Godly than molesting and raping innocent children. For a Catholic priest to understand the life of a normal human being, and help them without judgment, then they should live the life of a normal human being.

no, not should but i don't think there is a problem if they were married - as some are already.
the difference is dating while a priest just wouldn't work - if you know the life they have to lead fo rtheir parishes and what is put upon them -- they would not be able to maintain a relationship.

Yes! A happily-married priest is a non-molesting priest. Not that all priests molest, of course! But there's no reason to deprive them of a family just because they serve God as an ordained minister.

At first I did. Now that they have taken molestation as their guide they should be forced to get out of the priest hood then they can marry. Too many people have suffered from their horrible desires and abuse. Kick them out then they can marry.

If you abide by the rules of the Roman church, then this is a secondary question. The primary question is, "Does the Pope, have the authority to decree how the church operates?" Unlike the Protestant churches, what the pope decides is not a matter of majority rule.

The Pope's authority is built on the scripture, "Thy name is Peter and upon this Rock I will build my church." Since then, the "Laying on of hands upon succeeding clergy" has been the visible sign of that authority.

yeah why not? Most of all the other branches of christianty are allowed to marry if they are a preist, deacon or whatever. If two people are in love then yes you should get married and be happy.

Not at this point in time. It won't stop the molestations either. If those pervert priests wanted to have sex with women, that's what they would've done. They aren't interested in women - letting them get married isn't going to change that.
