i.e. being part of an effort to outsource goods for lower prices rather than pay American workers and charge more.

Now I know this is good for the " American Consumer " but I'm asking about the the affect on American jobs

In all honesty, probably not - since I believe there is at least some validity to the premise that it hurts the American worker and I do shop there on occasion.

There is a price for cheap products - we see it daily as the manufacturing firms are shutting down all around us.

The shoe manufacturing industry was once very productive and provided numerous jobs in the area where I live. When the production lines started cutting back in the middle and late seventies- the workers would picket out front of the buildings with signs that read, "DO NOT BUY FOREIGN MADE SHOES !".... and then they would drive home in their Nissan's and Toyota's.

It's a double edged sword - the consumer is definitely benefiting when he can purchase a new DVD player for $39.00 or a pair of sneakers for $15.00 - but the jury is still out on determining what the REAL price may turn out to be in the future.

If we buy outsourced products at any store now we are not saving any money the corporations are in profits and some channel money to places like the Caymans and our country don`t get the tax money we need to pay debt to China. If we set up shop in China etc. this causes China`s economy to boom and the demand for oil is greater
and the price of gas is higher for us because demand went up. So how much are we saving at places like Wal-Mart? Not to mention the good manufacturing jobs are now low paying service jobs.

When Sam Walton (the founder of Wal-Mart) was alive, Wal-Marts motto was "Buy America" but ever since he died, its "BUY CHINA" sell for a profit and screw America, and Alice Walton and the others sit on their $25 Billion each and show up once a year for Board meetings. Wal-Mart could NOT GIVE A DAMN about the American worker, even its OWN WORKER'S!

Just Why is it so hard to find a good parking place in the Wal-mart parking lot? If they announce need help for each opening how many apply??? (100) Its the fat cat union bosses who brain wash the public. How many companies have problems due to them? (GM, Ford, Northwest airlines list goes on.) They have overpriced themselves. They are first in line to enlist illegals.

I already boycott Wal-Mart.
I don't care for the way they treat their own employees.
I don't care for the fact that WalMart is the largest non-government employer in the Peoples Republic of China (144,000 employees)
I dont care for the fact that schools in the Georgia county that is home to their distribution center is collapsing under the weight of hundreds of non-English speaking students (See if you can guess where the parents work).
WalMart does hurt the American worker - and anybody else nearby.

I don't shop at Wal-Mart now. I try very hard to use my local retailers and small shops for everyday needs. For weekly groceries, I use a local supermarket that is just here in this area as far as I know. The prices are very good in my opinion.

because patriotic in u . s . a . means earnings and Wal-Mart is the king of earnings. although if it places small company lower than and makes use of slave not straightforward artwork overseas places to undercut individuals. besides the very undeniable reality that it evades eco-rules contained in the U. S. with the help of having the polluting executed in a third international united states. They even employ a, "environmental" employer out of San Francisco to "eco-friendly wash" their image.

I like your question and it hurts and embarrasses me to admit I have to shop at "Dollar Stores" because my retirement income is too low to do anything else. I'm NOT COMPLAINING because I love my country (USA) no matter what and wouldn't want to live anywhere else. But I was wrong when I supported the "free-trade" agreements signed by our government. I was hoping the trade would be a two way deal, benefiting all trading partners.
It has not worked out that way. That''s life. Maybe we have to go back to the drawing board.

I went in one once, couldn't find anything that came from a free country so I left and haven't returned.
Wal-Mart is just the result of the US trading US jobs for favors overseas.
We need to reinstate tariffs with other countries with low paying labor to help protect our jobs here at home.

I usually dont like to shop at places that pay their employees as low as possible to save a buck and dont give them health insurance. It's just a thing I have about human rights.
