Here is what Webster's Dictionary says on the subject of religion:
1 a : the state of a religious
b (1) : the service and worship of God or the supernatural
(2) : commitment or devotion to religious faith or observance
2 : a personal set or institutionalized system of religious attitudes, beliefs, and practices
3 archaic : scrupulous conformity : CONSCIENTIOUSNESS
4 : a cause, principle, or system of beliefs held to with ardor and faith

It fits the fourth definition and the third as well. It goes by 4 principles:
1. To live is to suffer
2. Suffering comes from desire
3. To end suffering, end desire
4. Release from suffering is possible and can be attained by following the Noble Eightfold Path

Eightfold Path:
1. Right understanding
2. Right intention
3. Right speech
4. Right action
5. Right work
6. Right effort
7 Right meditation
8. Right contemplation

As you can see there is a moral code (each of the Eightfold is much more complex than I listed but I dont have the time to explain each of those). So you can see that Buddhism is not just about meditation. And as for calling it a cult...a cult is considered in Webster's dictionary to be a "religion regarded as unorthodox". Personally, I think it is blatantly ignorant to call a religion unorthodox if it is centuries older then yours.

Oh, come now! You aren't being helpful if you list only these two! The whole panoply of religions fit into your schema of fake and cults. In truth, I guess what your asking is only to pay attention to the atheists, agnostics, humanists and free-thinkers. And for that, I thank you.

i guess to say that your Christian and I would probably be right..

and what's this? Someone doesn't know the history of their own religion..... Christianity started as a cult. It just got lucky and became popular.

I think Buddhism is the ONLY religion that I can possibly agree with. its the only one that doesnt require believing in the unbelievable. Its the only one that is tolerant of others. That being said, I am proud to declare my atheism.

Oh it's not enough that you don't believe in something that others believe in, you must control what others believe in in order to verify your beliefs? Do you not believe in yourself enough? Must other's beliefs back up your own?
