I meet this guy, he is sweet and caring, a couple of weeks ago he told one of his friends that I am his girlfriend, we were suposed to get together but I wasn't able to be there for work reasons, he took it well when i explained to him, for the last couple of days I wasn't able to get in touch with him, until today and he was sweet and he said the reason why he didn't call was because he wasn't at his best ( he was upset and he didn't wanted to talk to anybody) so are guys like that?, is he serious or is he just trying to find a pretext? can I get some advice in how to deal with this and at the same time what would guys expect from a girl if you are talking serious about a relationship

thank you for your help

I'm a guy. I've had this exact experience. I met a woman I really enjoyed being with, I felt comfortable around her, we laughed together, very intelligent, driven, etc etc. She had similar issues with work and it always made me very disappointed. I would swallow my disappointment and contact her again but darn, it was difficult. When you want to spend time with a person you really like you get selfish and sort of expect the other person to place everything second and put them first (that's probably what he thinks he would do). On a very very small scale, you broke his heart by not being able to get out of work.

I don't think this is a pretext at all. He was just plain sad and disappointed.

Believe it or not guys do have emotions and feelings just like women...I have cried over ex girlfriends and felt sick to my stomach when I thought someone was being unfaithful...it sounds like he was a decent guy, so he probably was just a little hurt by your leaving. Give him time and maybe you guys can be friends, but he may just be heartbroken...

Well it seems that this guy likes you too. He seems like an understandable person as well. His excuse seems suitable but, if your not sure try to find out if that's the truth.

Ask him his goals for the next 5 years. If you are not convinced with his answer then you know what to do.
