My uncle is giving me an 81 fairmont 4dr. it sat at one of his houses for a year or two, it has a bad starter, but i have an extra. what should i do to this old beast? i was thinking about making a jump or something....i just want to know what other people would do with it.
it has the inline six and the body is good, no rust. my uncle wants it off his property because the owner died. i would have the car now, but we are looking for the title.

Hey buddy good new's that car is a mustang with 4 doors. If you want more go in that car but not to extreme. Find your self a 80's early 90's mustang and buy the motor and motor mounts and tranny. Then bolt it it there. Take the double hump tranny cross member and take the exhaust too. It will fit. Plust if you want some posi traction heh heh go grab the rear diff too. Wheels from a mustang will fit too. Dont forget that Capri's are same car

Well, if you are gay, stupid, a loser or invisible by all means. Fix that worthless hunk of crap and smile while you drive around in the "Donutmobile". Why "Donutmobile", because you are going to look like a real ZERO in that thing.
The only person that can make a Fairmont look cool was Bob Glidden it was a 2 door and that was way back in 1981 when he campaigned a Fairmont Dragster in the NHRA.
Time has moved on, even punks in Escorts will think you look stupid in that car.
If times are hard, then I am sorry for the diss. Maybe you need a "free car". You have to ask yourself though, if you can't afford to buy a car can you afford to maintain a car that someone gave you?
I have two cars now. I used have two bikes though. Just something to think about. What do I know, I'm not your accountant.

I think that the Ford Fairmont's are good reliable low maintence cars and they're easy to fix, the inline six is a good motor although it doesn't have alot of power, they are pretty good on gas and they came out during a time when many American buyers wanted to buy smaller vehicles to save money on gas, plus the Ford Fairmont's were one of Ford's biggest sellers of the late 70's/early 80's :)

those were popular cars back then. It';s when everybody was trying to once again, save gas, and get better mileage . that's when they started chopping down the big, heavy cars, like the Grand Prix, Monte Carlo, Thunderbird, Cutlass Supreme, Cougar,in fact, they made them so much smaller, we called the Cutlass, the Cutlass Cut-off!. I had a Z-7 Zephyr, which was the Mercury, to the Ford Fairmont.

Same under pinnings as the Mustang, could make a nice sleeper car for street racing, changing to the correct engine.

Well, it'd be a good daily driver. If your close, I'd buy it cheap to take it off your hands.
