It's safe at 8 weeks but it's better if you can let the kitten stay up to 10 weeks. Cats taken away too soon can have behavioral and health problems cause they have missed vital nutrients from the mother's milk and valuable lessons she teaches them as they get older.

I would say 6 - 8 weeks, if the kittens are eating alright on their own. To separate them sooner is hard not only on the kitten, but the mom too.

Generally 6 to 10 weeks is the norm. You should allow a little extra time for the mother to teach the kittens how to groom and use the litter box. Otherwise, they might go outside of it.

Between 8 to 12 weeks is optimum. The kittens will be better adjusted if they stay with their mother longer than the "six weeks" that is recommended by some people. Please spay the mother cat once her milk has dried up; the kittens also should be fixed. Please find them a good home when the time is right, or take them to a no-kill shelter. Good luck.

Eight weeks is the right time. Kittens need to finish their nursing. The mother cat usually makes that decision.

It is also very important for a kitten to have the interaction with his littermates especially if it is to go to a home where it will be the only cat.

the minium is 8 weeks, but by 12 weeks the kittens have learned more about hunting and how to clean themselves better. 12 weeks is the best time.
