i certainly take offence to it. And i agree that in western culture it is criminals, rapists and murderers that cover their face.
Some of these women look like ninja's which can be very un-nerving when you stand near one. I am always fearful that they are going explode without warning.
I saw that in the UK they have a muslim body suit for muslim nurses - freak out or what, these people look like storm-troopers from star wars.

this is a good question. I'm an anthropology minor in college. We learn that, just as you point out, sometimes things that are considered 'good' in one culture are considered 'bad' in another culture, or just 'crazy'. We studied things like how far one person should be when standing in front of them to talk. Some cultures require more space than other, so if I am comfortable with 4 feet away, then someone else whose cultural norm is 2 feet away is going to make me uncomfortable by moving into 'my' space. Looking people straight in the eye is another thing that causes conflict,, the some cultural norms encourage eye to eye contact, while some others consider that very aggressive.
Every point you mention, wearing black, wearing masks, and wearing blue is very true. It's not always a matter of them not caring though... they could make the same complaint about you, and ask you if you don't care how offensive it is for you and your group to dress so immodestly and flamboyantly in showing so much skin.
We need to respect each other, even when we don't agree. Does your group teach patience and understanding?

I'm not sure why anyone would find it offensive or disrespectful. It's a part of their culture that has to do with modesty. They would feel immodest if they showed their faces to anyone outside the family. I respect them for that. It must be a scary thing to wear something that so points them out in our society where there is so much antagonism towards Muslims. I can respect their courage in that area too. I don't agree with their religion, but I don't hate them for it. I think there are good and bad Muslims just like there are good and bad Christians and good and bad people of every kind.

LOL...so the people who believe in a firmly established religion that existed before this part of the world was even THOUGHT ABOUT should change their beliefs, traditions, and culture to make you feel more comfortable?? Would it be OK for them to tell YOU how to worship your God and live your life? Honestly, ask yourself how you would feel if someone made a comment like this about you and your religion. I assume that either you're not going to care very much OR you would be highly offended. Either way...it's not OK.

I don't find it offensive at all. Every culture is different. In some cultures just the act of kissing is forbidden because it is believed that your soul can escape out of your mouth. I think every culture has good and bad points to them. There is no such thing as a perfect culture, and there is something to be learned from everyone.

From your question you are saying that the Western world is the only one allowed to have a culture. What's up with that?

It just depends upon what culture the Muslim is from...I take care of Muslim women from Africa and they adorn themselves in beautiful bright materials only covering their heads, not their faces.

I have never seen amuslim woman covered in red. they choose mellow colors.
Why can't you be more sensitive to their culture and understand the moral and religious reasons why the women cover?
