I dont think they are an alcoholic, but if it continues like that especially if they are young, then it would be a problem when they get older. Sometimes it's ok for someone to come home from a hard day at work or whatever the situation may be and have a drink or two.

If you are concerned that someone is, then that is a sign that they very well could be an alcoholic.

Here is a simple test that health care workers give to a patient to assess for alcoholism. It is called the Cage Test:

CAGE Questions (cut, annoyed, guilt, eye opener)

1. Ever felt you ought to cut down on your drinking?

2. Have people annoyed you by criticizing your drinking?

3. Ever felt bad or guilty about your drinking?

4. Ever had an eye-opener to steady nerves in the AM?

I am an alcoholic. If someone is drinking a pint 3 times a week by themselves they probably are alcoholic themselves.

A drink, or to get drunk, that is the question. A pint is a bit, so some soul searching would be in order to determine if you just can't live without the stuff. If you can't, then yes, you should seek some help.

My Dad drinks a beer a day - usually when he's by himself. He's not an alcoholic, but a man who likes an occasional beer. If you often drink alone, consuming large amounts of alcohol, you're probably an alcoholic (I don't mean "you" as in you personally). If you drink to get drunk daily, you are probably an alcoholic.

Not necessarily, there is much more to consider. Does the alcohol get you in trouble? Can you quit? Does it rule your life? Are you an addictive personality? They are saying now only 3 in 10 are alcoholics, I think is the satistics.

Whoa, a pint 3 times a week? Not only are they alcoholic, they are prescribing themselves an early death by chirrosis of the liver. Dying yellow and smelling like a brewery and in constant pain, bleeding when you poop is not an ideal situation to me...

There are different forms of alcoholism and as much as I hate to tell you this but drinking alone is one of them.
