I had a guy come in for an interview today and I cannot believe how he was dressed. Shirt and tie and sagging pants. I cannot stand this style and it is so unprofessional. Where did this aweful style originate?

Originally, the style wasn't popular. In fact, it was the opposite. A neighbor of mine, an older guy of about 60, likened the saggy pants that kids wear now to the ones that prisoners wore back in his day. Somewhere along the line, haven been in prison, became a symbol of status in black ghettoes; letting your clothes sag became an extension of that.

Now, baggy clothes are in. To kids nowadays, wearing tight pants is a sure sign that you're gay or a nerd. Actually, I can't say it's just kids because I see men in the 40s wearing a shirt/tie, baggy pair of blue jeans, and a sporty loafer. Might I add, they look damned good too. The guy who came into the interview, came dressed inappropriately, there's no excuse for that. The smart man knows there's a time and a place to wear what and when. You can't put blame on the style, blame has to go to that individual that didn't know what to wear and when. Provided it wasn't a case where the guy simply had no other pants to wear, I would say that his upbringing is the cause for him being ill-prepared.

You would think they would know they don't look professional at all when they do this....I can think of plenty of places where this style could originate, though. It's pretty much what everybody before me said. Hip-Hop or Rap communties. Anyway, that IS way to unprofessional.

I think people who dress like this are mindless. I saw a boy at a mall, and the *** of his pants were at his knees. The pants legs were dragging the floor, and hiding his shoes. He had his hands in his pockets trying to look cool when he tripped on the excess material and stumbled along about ten feet before falling. He couldn't get his hands out of his pockets to help his fall. Many people saw him and had a really good laugh. He wasn't so cool then.

i think it is so sloppy, but sometimes it can be hot, like one of the boys on my street sags to his knees, but yea hip-hop image made this look popular among boys, alot of women and girls dont find this attractive at all, but the guys dont kno this i guess

it started in prison, because the pants were too big for inmates and they werent aloud to wear a belt . this is the truth.
