As a white British male who has worked all of his adult life. Why can the government not provide adequate medical and dental assistance to those who have paid into the so called system all of their working lives but yet a so called "asylumn seeker" is entitled to all benefits free of charge?

ok ok i like u already and this is only the second of yr questions ive read.
this one is pretty close to home for me,seeing as im a cardiac nurse in an EEK NHS hospital. what i wanna say really doesnt answer yr question but it does back up the fact that asylumn and immigration will be the fall of GB as we know it. about 10 yrs ago the NHS was in crisis, we had enuff cash to create lots of new nursing jobs, only trouble was british ppl cudnt afford to study, hence we didnt produce enuff nurses, so what did we do?? we invited overseas nurses to come work for us,which ok worked for a few yrs, but then the NHS brought in incentives for employee's(mainly support staff) to train and become nurses, excellent scheme! but again 3 yrs ago we faced a shortage and brought what seems to be the hole population of the phillipeans and zimbabwe nurses over and all our wonderful BRITISH nurses that are just qualifying have no jobs!! what a waste, why not give these over sea nurses short contracts!! ugh drives me insane! wow i babble
ok yr question, when u say supplement are u talking about yr national insurance contributions?? or do u mean everything .. tax,NI etc etc anyway thats nit really relevant, basically a clever guy called beverage way back in 55 had this idea of a free system of healthcare to provide a healthier nation, which wud save money(illness costs us dearly in many ways)only trouble is he didnt expect all medicine to advance in such ways, the biggest blight is that we offer fabulous medical treatment for lil or no cost so asylumn seekers see an easy way to a speedy recovery and take full advantage! unfortunatly we all suffer, bigger waiting lists, less time with yr GP, costly prescriptions. but i do have to say that its not entirley the fault of immigrants.. they went wrong when the NHS became a profit making buisness!!
ohhh and as for private health care.. dont listen to blair .. iif u have a cardiac arrest in a bupa hospital there gonna ship you to an NHS one for treatment!!!

What planet does ALCHEMIST live on. He seems to think that it's OK not to receive the benefits you have contributed towards. I despair. I think that the answer to your question, is that, we have a Government that is in league with the EU to remove the borders from around Britain (Already happened), so that we no longer have immigration, we have migration. This has led on to the sort of problem you have identified. Although, with regard to the NHS, there are other variables in the equation.

The NHS is a Public Sector body, which means that inertia and inefficiency is built into it. It has no competition, heavily Unionised, riddled with PC and Feminist Politics, a political football and riddled with committees. Also bear in mind, that any service which is free at the point of delivery will be abused both by those receiving the service, and those who provide it.

The NHS, heavily influenced by Feminist Politics, provides many fringe services, which many would not regard as appropriate for the NHS to deliver. Also, by far the greater percentage of resources go toward dealing with female conditions. You, as an elder white male, are well down the pecking order.

You will be aware, that this Government has thrown a fortune at the NHS and, inevitably, it has disappeared down a deep hole, without any discernible benefit. Only the naive would have thought otherwise. The NHS requires root and branch reform, but the Government doesn't have the political nerve to carry it out. Too many votes at stake. That is something else about Public Sector organisations, their employees nearly all vote Labour.

I think that alchemist is so out of order. I am with you 100%. It is so bloody well unfair. OK I know that there are genuine asylum seekers, But it pisses me off that my 20yr old son has been on the council list since the age of 17 and still did not get offered a place to live. He is 20yrs old now and has just taken on a mortgage with a mate so that they can get on the so called property ladder. His Dad over 30yrs has worked for the NHS and for what? I am not looking for privilege's at all but surly Blaire should look after his own first and I don't give a damn what colour they are we and our flag should come first. If people who have come to our country cannot fit in then they should go to there so called home. Thanks I needed that. X

Even if you was to join BUPA and get complete private healthcare you would still have to pay NI. Don't blame the immigrants. I've lived in England for 20-odd years now and this country is run by a bunch of wanna be thespians that always end up pushing their own agenda through with no regard for the people that have elected them.
To answer your question ...you are entitled ... but it's a different story getting what you are entitled to.

A simple answer from Economics is that the NHS represents a merit good, i.e. it is a good that has positive external benefits that most people do not factor into their pricing of the good.

The argument goes that by having a national health service, the population at large will be healthier, which in turn benefits you because it means pandemics are less likely to spread (because people can get treatment), the population is healthier and thus happier and more productive, etc.

So despite your not actually directly receiving any private benefits, you ARE benefitting from the NHS and should factor that in, e.g. you don't live in a town full of sick people, who cannot afford to get help, thereby putting yourself at risk.

Be sure to write those letters and let your representation know how you feel, in no uncertain terms...the sooner they realize that the voters are dissatisfied with their stewardship and administration of various and sundry programs such as they might be, the sooner they'll be inclined to modify their direction...
