Thank you for your question, Julia. Priests, rabbis, mullahs and other such shamen are very astute at using a technique known as biphasism, in which they, on the one hand, instil in people constant guilt, generally involving sexual desires, as it is something we all have. On the other hand, they hold out to the dupe irrational promises of eternal life. By the clever alternation of these two phases, they exert a powerful hold over their dupes, even to the extent that the dupes will often pay 10% or more of their incomes to the persons who are manipulating them.

Morality is what distinguishes the successful human socieities from the miserable ones. Morality is what distinguishes humans from chimpanzees. Chimpanzees eat their own kind, and are in constantly doign things based on impulse, whereas humans have the ability to use conscience. The poor starving people in the world are starving, because they have not learned the lessons of other socieites, in that they need to stop tribal conflicts by learning to negotiate respectfully and not blindly following their corrupt tribal leaders. Religion teached a lot of lessons which can be used to lift one out of poverty, depression, and etc.
If you closely study human history, those with abundant religious values have always thrived over those with lesser religious values. The most genius anti-religious leaders brought massive death and poverty to their own people and/or other people. Humans are spiritual creatures, spirituality opens up the evolutionary parts of the human brain. The evolutionary parts of the human brain get attacked by the primitive part of the human brain, when the human gives in to stresses out of lack of trust in God, such as in depression and schizophrenia.

Since religion came around after man in your own reasoning, religion is progress and a result of evolution not something the human race will grow out of. By your line of reasoning, it will be more closely embraced as time goes forward.
Think first then ask your question.

Julia, I just clicked on your name and looked at all the questions you've been "asking" about religion. Your contempt for religious people borders on the pathological. It might be good for you to work out these issues with a counselor.

Maybe they're just bored. I don't know.
But yeah, I don't think religion is necessary because I don't believe in Gods or something.
