I'm still broken hearted the man i adore told me two months ago he wasn't in love with me anymore but still loved me......iv tryed to accept it but truth is i love him so much and cant see me wanting anyone else ever...i certainly wont love anyone like i did him...i hope every day that he,d phone me and tell me how much he needs me to...but hes totally moving on with his life he contacts me still i just want it to be same as be4 and its not ,so i cry myself to sleep alot while he probably on a chat site flirting with women if that's what he wants tho...so how long does it take to get over someone?...how long is a piece of string?it depends totally on the individual character.

Depends....my first love about 6 months to completely get over him. All of the other relationships, I went from straight from one into the next without giving myself time to heal or think, let alone miss the other person.
I just ended a relationship that I left emotionally a long time ago. Although I don't miss the person I miss the idea of being in a relationship. I'm forcing myself to be alone and I don't know how long it will take for me to like being single again, my guess is 6 months!

First no you don't ever really forget that special person that you gave your heart to. And as for how long does it take to get over it, well a life time and longer. That is if they were your soul mate. I know I'll never get over him. He was my heart and soul. I guess it depends on if they were just a love or THE LOVE of your life.

My first love took me about 3 years to really get over and move on to my next good relationship. But THE love...still not over him after 10 years even though I've had boyfriends since. Kinda sucks.

I once was having a sort of public argument with my b/f (at that time). I was really upset & the b/f walked out of the room. A stranger said to me "you will never really be over it until you both fall in love with someone else" !!! I was really surprised, but the stranger turned out to be right. When I fell in love with the real love of my life, so much of the old stuff just went away....

hmm. the first time i was heart-broken was the only time, so far. i was young, and fell hard in love with this kid. It stopped hurting about a year afterwords, but i've been screwed up in relationships since- sometimes have trust issues, other times i can be cold or jealous or what have you. so i guess i've never holly gotten over it, but i couldn't care less if i found out the scumbag was dead somewhere..... (harsh..)

About as long as it took to have my trust betrayed.....and it took a second to get over it and at the same time; it took a life time to forget...and no, I don't think I will EVER quite forget that person....

Honestly it's been 8 years since the love of my life walked out the door and allthough I have moved on I am still NOT over it.

It's been 15 years and even though I've gotten on with my life... I will never forget how devistated I felt when my b/f broke up with me. I will carry it with me until the day I die...only because I was so young and vulnerable.... I will never love anyone that way again.
