muslims seem to have an inordinate need to conform, and submit to the ilusion of certainty, when life is fluid and changeable. how can blind faith and adherence to the words of one obviously falible human being be the basis for law?

Islamic Law is nothing comparable to the Jewish Torah/Talmud and the Christian Bible/Psalms. Anyway, why you say we follow blind faith when I feel spirituality and a strong connection to God Almighty/ Allah Ta'ala? If you are so unsure about Islam and why people are following, go to Google and search about it. Anyway, your discrimination. The Holy Prophet was revealed the Noble Quran from the Angel Gabriel. It is Just in everyway. Haven't you heard that there are so many Mathematical miracles as well as Scientific miracles and actual Prophecies of The Day of Judgement. Some of them are actualling proved by scientists. Also, in Judaism, Christianity as well as Hinduism were waiting for their final messengers, NOT Jesus (peace be upon him) but it was Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). YOU shouldn't be blabbering your mouth when you know by fact that the Bible is not in its original form from about 2000 YEARS OLD. Finally, you are following Blind Faith and false beliefs corrupted. Don't start these kind of fights. I am Muslim and I respect Christianity.

It may SEEM like it's "irrelevant an[d] obsolete situations 1500 years old" but it is NOT to those who believe these things. Just as there are many questionable things that can be asked of Christianity and Judaism... or just about any religion on Earth today! It doesn't cost you anything to respect other people's decision to believe in things they wish to believe... that's why we have religious fanatics and terrorists doing what they do... because they feel others are offending their religions. Learn to co-exist and learn to respect differences and you may well be on the way to ending a lot of bigotry and hatred.

Islamic law = Quran and Sunnah

Show me something from Quran and Sunnah that is irrelevant to today's times. Then there can be a real discussion over the facts. Otherwise, there is no credibility to your assertion.

It would be much more just if based on irrelevant and obsolete situations that were 2000 years old or more...

People use the same argument about the 'right to bear arms'...because it was originally meant so that citizens could be ready when their militia was called to duty to fight off the damn British so that they couldn't take over and make us all kiss the King of England's smelly feet.

You make a good point.

Yes they claim their laws to be just but look at most of the terrorists today at the middle east. They also claim to be the new chosen people of God. WOW.

The only "holy" writing I know that is less than 1500 years old are the Mormon scriptures.

And I'm pretty sure you wouldn't be thrilled with them either.
