I have long naturally curly hair and when i straighten it i want to be able to curl it but my hair wont hold a curl for $h!*%!!! i heard curlers work really good (if so any good brands?) is that the only thing or is there something else i can do for curls that will hold all day?

after curling, spray your hair with a SPRAY GEL. it will hold as well as maxi strength gel. but its spray and not too sticky to make your hair clump. works for me better than holding spray. and i have the same problem as you

If it is already curly.... why do you want to go through all the trouble of straightening it, just to curl it again? Unless, you're just wanting the ends the curl. In that case, try using a mousse when you get out of the shower and when you straighten it, don't do the ends. By pulling the straightener across the ends, you are making it staight...which makes it harder to curl later....also curl smaller sections of hair. That way the heat from the curling iron (or roller) will be able to distribute evenly and will work a lot better!

Don't straighten it. Just take a 1 1/2 in curling iron to it. Your natural curls will help hold the new curl all day. I'm a hair stylist and we give women perms so their hair will hold a roller set better.

forget about the straightening part. when your hair is wet, put gel in it and scrunch it, by collecting a clump in your hand and bringing to your scalp, then squeezing. repeat constantly until dry. it really works for me, and i have the same problem.

Buy the velcro curlers. They can be purchased at any wal-mart or Sally's beauty supply.
