I'm sure.

Has any believer ever lost a loved one and became a non-believer?

Again, certainly.

Nope. I attended the funerals of three grand parents, a few school friends, a 'surrogate' grandmother who lived across the street and was a grandma to me since my real grand parents were over a thousand miles away, etc... Never once did I wonder if they were enjoying an afterlife. They're dead, buried and gone, returned to the oblivion and nothingness from which they came, and that brings me a great deal of peace to know that we end as we begin.

The closest I have been to a death thankfully, is Steve Irwin. But I have been a growing believer most of my life.

Not me. I've been close to death a few times and never once turned to a god. Nor did any of the incidents make me a believer.

Not that I know, although I'm sure there are some. I've had some close calls, and so have my kids, but we're still atheists.

I've been close to death myself and lost several of my closest relatives. I watched my Mum take her last breath. I never once thought of a god, because I'm an adult and I know that's just other people's silly fairy tales, nothing to do with real life.

I am not a Christian but I had a massive heart attack that almost took me out. It did not change my religious choice. It made me stronger in my faith.
