Seroquel, as others have stated, is an anti-psychotic that helps for sleep and anxiety. For bipolar, it is usually given with a mood stabilizer. If you make a list of your symptoms and side effects, your psychiatrist will talk to you about what medicine he believes is the best for your situation. Since it takes around 4 weeks to know if a medication is helping, try to be patient because there are many different combinations to try. If you take your medicine as prescribed, relief is almost always obtained.

It is termed as a major tranquilizer and an anti-psychotic, and it knocks me out good. otherwise I would lay there and never get to sleep. and I would be crying all the d*mn time.
I have been on it for 6+ years. It has been reported to cause some weight gain, but I have ED's to help with that. I was anorexic when I started it so I didnt gain. But it is hard to go off of it, and you cant just stop it cold turkey.
talk to your doctor for sure.
