I had my hair colored today. I have just below the shoulder in layers. Fine hair, a lot of it, but fine and straight. She charged me basically double because she said she used two bottles ? This doesn't sound right to me. I've had much longer hair then I have right now and it didn't cost that much.

This is not my regular hairdresser.

I don't think that's right either. She could have been a 'master' hairstylist/colorist. if she is, they charge more for the services than when you have someone just as good, but with less experience. But two bottles? come on. I'd go back and investigate because that's a ripoff.

It doesn't usually cost double, but it is more expensive if they have to use more than one bottle. Depending on the product, you may have to use more than one. Some products can mix with more developer and therefore you have more to spread throughout your hair. You should have gone to your regular hairdresser, if she finds out that you went somewhere else to have a chemical treatment done, she'll probably be very upset with you. She also would probably have not charged you that much, just because you are a regular customer. Your regular hair dresser also knows more about your hair and can make sure that your hair is not damaged. I know that sometimes it isn't always poosible to get a last minute appointment with your regular hair dresser, so you go elsewhere, but these are the risks you take when you do!

Talk to the manager. If she had any experience at all, she should have known in advance that your hair would take two bottles and should have told you the fee would double.
But frankly, this sounds like a load of hogwash. They owe you at least an apology, if not a free coloring session. But don't let her do it for you or you'll end up polka dotted!

my wife is a hairdresser.. she says... " yeah you got burned. It's always been my practise to do a full hair analysis prior to any chemical services, that includes telling my customers the price. If I need more product then I didn't mix enough in the first place which is not my customers fault. What she/he did is just plain rude and you shouldn't have had to pay for an extra bottle."

Your hair dresser is not ripping you off. Anytime that a hair dresser has to use 2 bottles, which usually happens with shoulder length or longer hair, they will charge you more.

This is industry standard.

The use of 2 bottles is necessary to assure proper and complete coverage of longer hair.

Each hair dresser charges differently. I have heard of being charged extra for using two bottles of hair dye. If you really feel overcharged then do not return to that hairdresser ever again.

It sucks to deviate from the norm and end up feeling like you got burned...
If you are uncomfortable asking outright, then call and ask what they charge for hair like yours (describe it) and say your colorist usually use two bottles and what do they charge for it....
That should do a couple of things for ya...one, it'll make you feel like you did or didn't get ripped, and two, it'll make you appreciate your stylist/colorist even more
: )

If she had to use extra products to get the job done right, then its okay. But if you felt uncomfortable, why did you pay? I would've ran like hell or pulled the old "I left my money in the car" routine and left a fake set of keys on her station with half the money as collateral and bounced on the Devil and put the pedal to the floor and never looked back. I never pay for dissatisfying service anywhere, I don't care if they call the cops, I don't have time for regrets like this. Stick with your usual stylist from now on, never deviate from the one you trust with your hair, never ever. Or, do like me, learn how to do it yourself.

it does cost more if you use two bottles but its was really not fair for her not to tell you first. If I used two bottles to mix a color and only used half a bottle each than I would not charge extra but If I had to use two bottles I would explain it first not after. That was really a bad thing that she did to you.I would bring it up to the manager just to make sure that she was allowed.

Go back and complain to the manger. You have to look out for yourself. There are people out there who just wait to rip people off in any way.
I have long hair and I have never been charged double for coloring. TRY AND GET YOUR MONEY BACK OR
JUST DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH THEM.
