or
is it better to think that if a person is saved he can do anything he wants or deny Jesus and believe in pagan god...will God accept that....THE WAY PEOPLE SAY THE ONCE "SAVED ALWAYS SAVED" makes other believer that can do anything after they are saved but it contradicts the saying of jesus that a tree is known by its fruit

I don't agree with once saved always saved. I say you stay saved when you stay close to Jesus. When you stay close to Jesus you bear fruit like Jesus did. Check out our church website to see some fruit. www.soldiersoflightministry.com

Once saved always saved, BUT the point of the entire issue IS: ARE YOU SAVED? Many people believe that they are saved because they have done some "ritual" or said a few words...but the "proof" really is in how you live your life from the moment the "old person you were, DIES" & you become a new creation...You are set free from the pull of sin! You should be desiring to live a Holy life, pleasing unto the Lord, as to be forgiven was bought with a VERY precious price! One who has been truly saved KNOWS that any sin from that point on was the VERY reason Christ Died...is a moment of "passing pleasure" worth the suffering of our Savior?..the truly saved would answer NO WAY! Thus to be saved is NOT a licence for living in sin, but the freedom & the willingness to "JUST SAY NO!" :) Ergo" The tree really shall be known by it's fruit!"

This one has been around for a long time (2000 years?)
Nothing can take you from God's hand. Nothing?

or Work out your salvation with fear + trembling.

Or all of 1john is to tell you that you know without a doubt.

my church is once saved, always saved. There is an equal argument the opposite way.
I pick up my cross daily, and live as Jesus would have me live. I know of nothing that would ever cause me to deny my Lord, but I would never chance it.

always remember - In the last days there will be people who did miracles, raised the dead, and so on, then jesus will say - "away from me, I never knew you"

People who go on sinning, don't know Jesus, because he said, If you love me, do as I command. -
Love is ALWAYS.

sorry about no answer, but that is life

I have been saved, and because I am human I have slid. I don't think that because I have been saved that I am any better than anybody else. I TRY to lead a life that is approving to God. Sometimes I am not successful in my Christian Walk, but I try to do my best to change things that are not pleasing in myself.
I am also not a Christian that slams my beliefs into others. If you don't agree with me it is fine, I have my personal choice, and had I not given myself to Jesus my life would be nowhere right now. I don't believe "once saved always saved", it is a journey as nobody is perfect.

As far as I know and speaking as a 'saved person', once you have accepted Jesus Christ as your savior, placed your trust and soul in his care and then be baptized to signify dying and being born again in Christ .... you are good to go. Now that does not just give you permission to denounce Jesus, become a pagan, or Blasphemy God. You are instructed to go on your path and live a christian life and not throw obstacles in the path of your brothers and sisters in Christ. This means different things to different people. But the only way I know to 'undo' my 'saving', is to renounce it...take it all back... verbally say I don't want to be saved any more. Because when you are saved... you are saved from all past, present and future sins. Jesus knows we cannot live a life without sin, we were originally born into sin. Just a word for those of you who entertain thoughts of following Satan...God can hear your thoughts, Satan can only hear your spoken word and he will come if you ask him out loud.
I admit that the whole concept is difficult to grasp, that's why if you haven't yet grasped the concept..do it on faith.

The statement "once saved always saved" is derived from John Calvin's teaching on predestination, and it is not a complete statement by itself.

The rest of the statement is that "a saved person will act like it" (based on the idea of the Preservation of the Saints). Obviously a person who does not "act saved" by living a holy life is assumed to have never have been saved in the first place.

This is what happens when theology meets pop culture; some people only get half of an idea (the half that they want to hear, that is).

I think the answer lies in the "once saved" part of the question. It is not as easy to be saved as many Christians would have you believe. The church to a large extent teaches "easy believism" today, saying that if you just accpet Jesus into your heart you will be saved. That is not true. Read Romans 10 and you will see the plainest requirements for salvation in the Bible. IT says, If you confess with your mouth, Jesus as Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved, for with the heart man believes resulting in righteousness and with the mouth confession is made resulting in salvation." There are several things here, one of which is a belief that results in righteousness. If there is no change in the life to righteousness then there is no salvation. So how can you say people can do anything they want. Sorry - NO SALVATION! Also a confession has to be made with the mouth that Jesus is your Lord, which means you will obey Him. So how can you say christians can do anything they want after they are saved. A Christian lives righteously. Jesussaid "Many will say to me on that day, Lord Lord did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name perform miracles and in your name cast out demons, 'Then I will declare to them, depart from me , I never knew you, you who PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS." There are a lot of people who think they are saved and are not.

I think that salvation is a process. Once you accept Jesus as your savior yes you are saved but you also have to change the way you live. If you are really saved you have given your life to Jesus and try to imitate him even if you fail. People that say their saved because of a one time prayer are not if they don't give their life to God and change everything about them selves.

When Jesus bled in the garden and gave up his mortal life on the cross the world was saved. It is up to each of us to accept that salvation and to live the way of his teachings as best we can.The most important being love for once we learn how to really love the way that Jesus did then happiness compassion, sympathy, forgiveness and empathey will be in our lives and heart. It is not ment for us as humans to live a holy or perfect life but we should live as close as we can to what Jesus taught. And yes I have to agree that once saved always saved for Jesus does not go back on his word for he was sent here to save the world and not to distroy it.This he has done accept it in faith.May you be blessed.

Get this straight, I'm not a OSAS advocate because I don't take a stand on divisive issues like this one where each side builds up their little piles of verses to support their pet doctrine. But as a Biblical counselor it's my business to understand theology and the arguments that people use. So since you asked this question and I don't see anyone giving you a good answer I'll explain what the people who DO promote the OSAS doctrine say OK?

First off a person is only truly "saved" when they are born again by the Holy Spirit otherwise they have only made a mere profession of being a Christian and they may even be deceived into thinking that they are saved because they have given an intellectual consent to the gospel message but have never received the Holy Spirit.

So far, that's just straight out of the Scriptures. Now the OSAS crowd says that verses that talk about "those who endure" refer to people who Will persevere in their faith because they have the power of the Holy Spirit to strengthen them through times of trials.

Then there are the verses that warn about continuing to sin. The OSAS doctrine says that the Holy Spirit will not allow a person to continue on in a lifestyle of sin but will bring continual conviction upon such a person so that they can no longer enjoy sin and they will be miserable until they repent.

As to bearing fruit, the OSAS'ers say that a person who has the Holy Spirit Will bear good fruit because it is God who is working in and through them and causing them to bear fruit.

So every verse that you come up with to show that a person can lose their salvation, the OSAS people will say that either that verse doesn't pertain to someone who has been born again or that a person who is born again won't do those things because of the power of the Holy Spirit.

Personally I just tell people to live their lives according to the following passage and then they don't have to worry about who is correct in the OSAS debate because they will "never fall".

2 Peter 1:5 For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, 6 and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, 7 and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. 8 For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 For whoever lacks these qualities is so nearsighted that he is blind, having forgotten that he was cleansed from his former sins. 10 Therefore, brothers, be all the more diligent to make your calling and election sure, for if you practice these qualities you will never fall.

I would advise you to consider the fruit of bringing up divisive debates outside of the context of a Bible study and especially in a public forum like Y/A where unbelievers can look at the Christians arguing among themselves. For as it is written:

...we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but love edifies. And if anyone thinks that he knows anything, he has come to know nothing yet as he ought to know. But if anyone loves God, this one has been known by Him. 1 Corinthians 8:1-3
