That is the big problem with dating your friends. Especially when you two are really good friends...

I have been down this road. I actually just lost a good friendship because of it. I had the biggest crush on a woman that was one of my closest friends for almost 6 years. I mean from the first moment I laid eyes on her i was smitten. Everyone else knew how I felt about her & she did too. What did not help was my guy friends egging me on to ask her out over this course of time. I asked her out again & again to only be shot down everytime. Because I am so close and she did not want the friendship to be destryoed. Near the end, my pressure of trying to get with her put a strain on our friendship & it caused us to fall apart. Until this day we are not as close as we use to be and it is sad that it is like that. The worst part is that it will NEVER be the way it was. We said some mean & hurtful things to each other that were true and in the end it has brought us to the type of friendship we have now: Friends that talk and only hang out when we are with our other friends...

What makes us think that a realtionship with a good friend will work are the facts that there are so many movies that make it seem so simple and that this person knows alot about us already. We feel that we will not have to go through the beginning guesing games of what the other person likes and dislikes. In reality, you still do. For example; You two may have talked about what you like in the bedroom, but you do not know if the two of you will like those things together.

So if want to go through with it, test the water, don't rush into it & be ready for possible rejection. If it does happen, you still have a chance of losing the friendship you have. Talk it over and make sure that this is what you both want.

You might find the feeling is mutal...maybe you could bring it up in conversation as: Have you ever wondered what it would be like if we were more than just friends? That is the problem with taking friendship one step further....if it doesn't work out then the friendship will never quite be the same for awhile. It would take time after the break up, but you could find out you work out just as well being more than friends. Good Luck!

Don't mean to be depressing or anything, but in my experience such things do not usually work out for the long term. However, looking back, some would say it was worth the good times.

If you want to make an omellete you have to break a few eggs.

Do you have a boyfriend all ready. If you do this must be his best friend and you are playing with fire. I feel that you know the answer to your own question.

Sticky situation. But I've always had the notion that you never know till you try, and life's too short for regrets.

what you need to know is that its a major risk and that you need to decide whats more important to you and you may even wanna make a promise to eachother that no matter what you'll be freinds if you do date. its tough i know.
