I believe that all people have the ability to care and be compassionate. Would you be able to walk physically away from a hungry, naked, crying, cold, child and feel nothing?

I would say we ALL have much in common. We are ALL part of the Human Race.

I would not walk away from an enemy in need let alone a child. All life is a gift and the suffering of one IS suffering for all. We are all one, we are human, we ARE life (my belief here LIFE is GOD), how could someone who is truly alive allow the life of another endure suffering without attempting to comfort? How could you live with the knowledge that you allowed a life to live in anguish without attempting to help in some way?

Oh yes, I would help any little child . If an enemy had just came through our area and ran off leaving this child, I would help the small child. If I saw any starving child, of any race, or religion, I would give the child my last crust of bread. I would find a way to feed the children. Say way back when it was world war 2 and if I were in Germany and saw a German child, suffering, frightened or starving , I would pick the child up and give it help in any which way I could. In Iraq, I would help the little children. If while I was helping this small child and the father would come up behind me with a gun, I know he would realize I was helping. If not then it would be the last thing I would do. Suffer Not The Little Children, to Come Unto Me! For Such Is The Kingdom of Heaven.

I would help as I am able. It reminds me of Savatage's "Dead Winter Dead" album. It's about the war that was in Sarajevo. During Christmastime, the two sides were fighting but there was an old man who went up on a rooftop every night and played his cello - Christmas songs of peace. During the nights both sides would listen to him playing as they were resting. One night there was an explosion and a guy from one side and a woman from the other side headed to the square to see what had happened, as they heard silence. They both arrived at the same time to find the old man dead. These enemies saw each other and got to thinking that they were not that different after all, and look what their fighting had caused. It's really a great album that ultimately shows compassion for an enemy.

We are all part of the world first, and members of the Human Race, so I would help that child in any way that I possibly could. Peace to all and have a good night!

For an honest answer, I don't know.

You really have asked two questions. First, is would I offer the help or walk away. Would like to say I would help, but? Second, is if I walked away, would I feel anything. I might walk away, I would hope that if I did walk away, I would feel something, and that the something was a sadness. But, until we get there, do we know?

I'm not sure anyone could

my husband who is atheist .. comes across as cold hearted .. and to look at him would put fear in you lol ... cant walk past any homeless person without giving them money ( sometimes more than we can afford )
and tonight he was running water saying that its a shame we waste so much water when people have to walk miles to get some that isn't even clean
as for children .. wow his heart just melts
he makes me very proud .. he doesn't even realise that there is a warm heart in that big tough exterior

No I could never walk away...the older I get the more I believe in altruism...the more I believe that it is necessary to our survival as a species...No I never want to see anyone suffer...Life is hard enough as it is...we should all love each other a little more, inspite of our differences....it's so much easier than hate or disinterest...I'm not religious so I'm not approaching it from that angle..but love is the easiest (requires the least energy--sorta like smiling takes less muscles than frowning) emotion.....sorry if I'm rambling here.

I will help a child, except the child must not have a weapon. Children can kill just as easily, for revenge of a lost family member, as an adult.
Sorry - but there must be a few conditions, when helping any one.

It wouldn't even have to be a small crying injured child, it would just have to be any human being injured or crying or hungry or abused.

I may not have alot but if I can share what I have with someone in need then I'm there.
