No its not racist they call people of color minorities because there are less of them and the majority are white folk because there are more of them.

Very true, Woody...women of any color are still considered minorities. And no it's not racist. It makes perfect sense...for decades, the white man in America has had almost total control. Women, blacks, and other non-whites had long been considered second class citizens. Now that these other groups are breaking into the world that has traditionally been dominated by white males, they are called the minorities.

They call them minorities because they are just that, a minority. Being a minority means that you are less of the population in that specific place. For example, if you went to Ethiopia, you would be a minority, assuming that you are white. It is not racism at all and the term can be used to compare any two groups of people, not just whites and blacks although that is the most common comparison.

No. When I lived in Kuwait and Iraq I was a minority and I didn't consider it a racist term. If I ever lived in Africa, I would be a minority. Are you saying that any black Africans would be racists for calling me a member of the minority?

It seems to me a bit racist to think that only white people can be called or considered racists.

Well, the majority of people in the US, as of now, are Caucasians.

No, it's not racist. As it stands currently, it's just a simple fact. Not that it matters or anything.

this seems silly to me. all minority means is that there is less of that racial group. many people of non-caucasian decent refer to themselves as minorities.
