Delena, it's not a matter of how many miles you have to walk -- that's only one small component of weight loss...

It depends upon:
1) How much you weight now.
2) How much food you plan to eat each day.
3) How fast you plan to walk.
4) How old you are.

Use this website to determine your caloric needs:

http://www.nutritiondata.com/calories-burned.html

Then eat slightly less calories per day and watch the weight come off.

It will take time to lose weight, so be patient. 3500 calories (give or take) is about 1 pound. So if you shave off 500 calories per day, you should lose about one pound of body weight.

Feel free to drop me a line if you have further questions or need help with something I said.

Good luck.

tough questions

Listen: you need to do 200 minutes of cardio a week. Remember fat does not turn into muscle, so you need to lose your fat while putting on muscle. The 45 minute thing is not true, but don't over 60 minutes at a time.

Do 5-10 minutes of cardio to warm up, then do your weight training. Do 30 to 60 minutes more of cardio, then go home.

The best time to eat is just after your workout within an hour when your metabolism is raging. For your muscles, incorporate some isolated soy protein or whey protein. Whey is more potent but the soy tastes better!

Don't look at your scale as the be all and end all, but get a measuring tape to check your progress, and that will show more tangible results.

Good luck and stick at it.

I found the book to be very informative and easy to read.

I've lost 17 pounds in 12 days, I'm just concerned that I'm losing too much weight, too quickly. I will admit I haven't followed the guide exactly. I'm not sticking perfectly to the listed foods and meal plans (but mostly) and doing very little exercise, but the weight keeps flying off.

It clearly works and if I'd followed it exactly I think it would scare the living daylights out of me because of the amount that I'd lose. So thanks again for the information. I've never purchased anything like this before because they are usually full of trash, but 3WD has been a pleasant surprise.

Get started today!

I understand what you are asking but it doesn't work that way.....Yes you can and should walk...Best exercise you can get because it works the whole body..........But the only problem is, is that we all want a quick fix. And reality will slap us in the face and tell us to get real and wake up.........................You can and will lose 50 pounds......I'm sure of it.........But it will take weeks, and months of sit ups everyother day, walking everyday when you can for 30 minutes at a time, no less(try to find a walking buddy)30 minutes won't kill anyone.........And of course cut out the sweets, and the sugars and the fat, butter, etc.....It surely won't be easy, but you will reap the rewards......once you make up your mind to do it, you will.....It will fall off faster than you think.
Best of luck to you......

Go for kettlebell workouts — the average person burns 400 calories in 20 minutes.

When boredom, depression, or maybe stress causes cravings, find a nonfood way in order to meet them such as enjoying a walk, calling a friend, getting a bath, reading a book, or perhaps doing some yoga.

Muscle mass uses up more calories, so include three 20-minute strength-training sessions each week.
