I had to leave my 7 month old shih tzu for a few days last week and I think my moms shih tzu male got her. I am worried about her age and whether or not she could physically give birth to puppies (she is presently 9lbs) and if she would be too immature to care for puppies. I really didnt mean for this to happen and I feel awful. I dont want to lose her to the birth process. She has thrown up a few times and her nipples are hard and stick out (they didnt before). I would appreciate anyones insight on this one. Thanks so much!

Man you people are a bunch of snooty jerks, are you freaking kidding me? I didnt post this question to get rude responses back. I dont believe this is what this site is for. If you have something insightful to say then please do if ya'll want to be rude or treat me like Im stupid keep your comments to yourself. It is my choice to spay or neuter a dog not yours.

TORBAYNEWFS: Ya know what ...just back off! I dont require your responses. If I did plan on breeding them at a later date what the hell business is it of yours? People like you kill me...live all day long on the computer cause you have no life. What you live for is to just aggrivate and be rude to people who are asking for input. You are real big and bad behind that keyboard.
I had been watching her and she wasnt in heat when I left and was when I came back. Its human to error...my dogs are like my kids I would never do anything to harm them intentionally. I guess you are just one of those rare people who never make errors or mistakes in your life. Man I feel sorry for you.

It sounds like she may be pregnant.*Claps hands* I think you'd be better off calling your vet, they're the professionals, they'll know everything..

IF you didn't MEAN for it to happen, why would you leave an intact female that is in heat with an intact male??? What did you think was going to happen?????????? People usually don't "think" that kind of thing will happen, but don't do anything to prevent it....like not letting them have access to each other!!!!!!
If she is 7 months, she should already be spayed!!!!
Ever think maybe you could take her to the vet and get a professional opinion?????????

Hey, if you have no idea how to tell your dog is in heat, don't get mad at us. You have no business having an intact female dog. I would NEVER leave a female with a male unless I was sure she was not in heat. If you have a small breed, you can expect them to come into heat anywhere from 5 months on. You either didn't know that or didn't care to say "Mom, the girl doggie is over 5 months..let's keep the boy doggie away from her while I am gone". That is all it takes. YOU didn't have her spayed by 6 months for some reason...was it because you wanted to breed the two cute little Shih Tzus at a later date??????????

Well, you weere ignorant and may have gotten burned. Maybe if you cared about the dog, you would take it and get it SPAYED NOW!!!!!!!

She is too young and too small to have pups. Was she in heat when she went to your moms? If so why was she left in heat with an intact male? She can only become pregnant if she was in heat.
I would suggest taking her to the vet and also setting up a spay appt.asap.

there is a possibility that she can be pregnant. She should be fine but take her to the vet for an exam.

it does depend if she was in heat or not cuz if she was and you left her their is a chance she could become pregant even though you did not plan for it . all for now snowy
