When your b/f g/f, theres some sort of commitment that you probably would have discussed.. It's most likely there would be some sorta intamacy - kissing etc etc etc. Where as with friends, your just friends, some people have 'special friends' but they;re still just friends because your not commited to each other.

You can have friends of the opposite sex and not be bf or gf. To be a bf/gf you make a commitment to each other.
