In a world where half of it is starving to death we in America are having problems with hypogylcemia because we have too much good tasting food, and too many gadgets to keep us entertained instead of exerciseing. Kids are coming home to empty houses and are not allowed outside till someone comes home from work and so it is dark, no exercise and they snack until someone brings home a bucket of something or they call pizza delivery.

Yes. I think there are many contributing factors to this, including better entertainment venues, less "labor" in the labor force, more work hours, need for meals that are prepared faster and probably the worse culprit: fast food restaurants. Chief among them is McDonald's, which has fed Americans with so much processed and addictive fat that people become hopelessly overweight.

On the other hand, they could be incentive to not do so. But I think the first effect is more pronounced

Yes because all food is now processed and very little naturally grown food goes straight to the wealthy.
