Because they haven't met us.
They don't know us.
They don't go where we go.
They don't do what we do.
They have never seen us having fun.
They keep to themselves and sit in front of this computer screen typing things about my children being unsocialized..... kind of a quandary isn't it? The people that put down home-schoolers need to get a life. They need to get out and meet more people. They need to meet more home-schoolers and start getting in on reality. They need to do things in the real world with home-schoolers. THEN their misconceptions will... well.. just... plain.... ummmmm.... disappear!!!

I totally agree with you. People at my old school made fun of homeschoolers and when I became homeschooled some of them treated me differently. I'm no different than I want before. They say homeschoolers have no life, but we have more of a life because we can do more, rather than just studying ALL DAY LONG! We can get jobs and have fun and still learn just as much, if not more. There are lots of homeschooling groups you can go to to meet people, so we have lots of friends.

I have known several families that homeschool their children. ALL of them were not very social and interverted compared to my children. They were very polite and well mannered but just did not know how to play or what to say. After my cousin sent her daughter to regular school, she became very accepted in school and made many new friends. Now she acts just like a 13 year old should. She was a little behind academically but she caught up and is doing fine.
The friends you have, are they homeschooled as well? You need all sorts of friends from different backgrounds. Do you go to school functions, dances, field trips, ballgames, etc?

I am homeschooled. I have been homeschooled for five years. I am starting 7th Grade. Well you sure are lucky because I have no friends... But I think they think we're wierd because they think because we stay at home they think we are wierd. I saw a friend from school about three months ago I haven't seen him since I left school. But he said he told one of his new friends who knew me that I was mentally challenged and I got in a go-cart and died... But they think because we don't go to school we must have a low IQ so therefore we get special attention i think public school is all messed up anyway hey this is off subject but will you be my friend, contact me!!! Just click on my name under my avatar

They think that because of their own ignorance on the subject. If they have been school by the public system they may think that there is no other way. The kids that are saying the negative things about homeschools forget that it was their parents who taught them everything they knew BEFORE they entered their first school. Who taught them how to eat, dress, talk etc? Who's better qualified to teach than the parents who have your best interests in mind. Your answer... Ignorance!

Hello, Here's the truth. It doesn't matter what others think of you or you life choices. As long as you are happy doing homeschool and are achieving your goals, its no bodies business what you are doing and it seems to me if you know people who think they have the right to put you down then they are not the people to be listening to. Enjoy each day, enjoy your friends and family , live each day to the fullest . Accosiate with positive people and ignore those who have negitive attitudes. Good luck with your homeschooling

I want to homeschool and would like to know how you got out there and socialized and have friends. Do you talk to friends in the neighborhood or do your parents take you to meet other homeschoolers. Let me know because I want my kids to have lots of friends to.

I'm home schooled but I just moved to a new area so it's hard to make friends, but that's probably why they do so well because they concentrate on homework and make friends later.
