You have a chance to close a circle and get on with your life, or open a new one.
Did you ever think about me? why did you leave? Who are you? where did you meet my mom? tell me about the circumstances surrounding my birth? Where have you been all this time? Are you interested in getting to know me?

Stuff like that, you should have a bundle of questions you always asked yourself over the years.

It also opens a chance to find out about your relatives on his side. I guess we all want to know where we come from.

Well, it depends....on you. What do you want to say?I did not meet my mother until I was 20 and then did not find out the true circumstances surrounding her absence until I was 50. Did not have any feelings to express because I did not know her at all.Now I am getting to know her a little bit. We live in different states. My father raised us. I would just want to make a meeting plan and be as brief as possible.Prepare for the worst case scenario like he doesn't want to know you or something like that so if that is not the case it can be a pleasant surprise. I was shocked at my relation situation and it took me 30 years to go back. But, after all to me she was a stranger. Keep expectations at a minimum of yourself and him if you can control your imagination of the unknown. No matter what happens you are loved .

Why do u have to write a letter? I understand where your coming from, I'm 31 and have never met my "father". But I do not feel the need to contact him. I guess I look at it like... why do I want to know someone who has never been a part of my life or had any desire to. From another point of view, if he never knew about you, that's a different story. So sure, contacting him may be positive. Your father may open his arms to you. On the other hand your father may want his life to remain undisturbed and hearing from you may not fit into his plan. Just remember do whats best for you. Best of luck.

Tough one! This is most likely a good opertunity to ask him all the questions you can...and also state your intentions (do you want him to be a part of your life or not)...Just write doesn't matter what it ends up like as long as you get everything out...good luck I hope it works out for you.
