There are a few various sects and beliefs within the shia, but yes, according to sunni's, the shia doctrine is disbelief. Each person who calls themself shia is to be examined individually, should a need arise, to determine his or her actual personal beliefs and how they match with Quran and Sunnah. So a sunni shoudln't just say every shia is a disbeliever, as that is a case by case basis, but would state that the doctrine is disbelief.

Salam bro, we don't know who is a true Muslim and who is not a true Muslim. Only God knows our hearts. That's why we should just say "Allahu Alam" (God Knows Best), and to each his own.

Even the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) warned against judging others and accusing others of not being Muslims--he said that as long as someone says he is Muslim, we should believe him, and if he is not, that is between him and Allah.

Also, not all Shi'as have added to the Quran, or beat themselves until they bleed, or make idols of the sahabi and do bad things to them, etc. (Astaghfirullah). That is a very SMALL MINORITY. We cannot generalize. Half my family is Shi'a, and the other half is Sunni, and they are all religious, and I can tell you that they do everything pretty much the same. To those who add to the Quran, they will get their punishment from Allah one day if He so commands.

We are all Muslims and there is no practical difference between Sunnis and Shi'as in the basic beliefs and practices. The main difference originally was that Shi'as believed the leadership should go through the family and the Sunnis believed the best qualified person should be caliph.

We should stay UNITED, as we all believe in the Shahada, that there is only One God and Muhammad (SAW) is the final messenger and prophet.

In this day and age, there are people in the world intentionally trying to create divisions between the Sunnis and Shi'as (for ex, Iraq). We need to resist these forces and band together, and if we have to make a criticism of someone, let's not do it on Yahoo Answers in front of everyone.

Allahu Alam.

Shia are not true Muslims, because the Quran warns against creating sects. They created a sect simply out of the brutal killing of a relative of Prophet Muhammad, even though Prophet Muhammad fought against many of his hostile relatives to defend the practice of Islam. The Shia ritual of beating themselves is further clear proof of their ignorance of Islam, because in the Quran it says that on Judgement day, every part of the body will testify against abuses. The Shia carry on the old pre-Islamic pagan custom of worship of lineage. They are so intoxicated by their love of the children of Ali, the cousin and son in-law of Prophet Muhammad, that they don't realize how they blatantly divide the Muslim community. The Shia are quickly loosing members as more and more of them are gaining access to unlimited knowledge and international communication via the internet.

It is not a good practice to judge a religion in any way. Religion is a very personal thing. Who are we to say which religion is good or bad.

If you think shai are not true Muslims because they add to the words of God or they beat themselves till they bleed. Well then Sufis are not true Muslims because Wahhabi thinks Sufis go to sanctuaries and love Mohammad PB UH, Wahhabi's will be out of Islam because they don't believe in what Sufis believe, and what about all this terrorist in Islam you think their believe are right. Is Suicide bombing allowed in Islam?

History shows that more people died in this world in the name of religion than any other reason. A Christian thinks that his religion is the best and A Jew thinks his religion is the best, its OK to think that way, but the problem starts when we start pointing fingers at other believes.

If we want to bring peace to this world, we must stop thinking about if that religion is true or that sector is true, I can assure you that we can make this world a paradise.

Think about if God supports for what you believe and leave others out of it.

Finally I like to apologize to the readers if I have said any thing here that might have heart your feelings, believe me it is purely unintentional.

Shia are not true muslims because they add to the words of God?

You mean allah!

They are a separate sect with different thinking -- like the Wahhabi, and the others.

i like to beleive that its a total deviation from islam and islam is based on only 2 facts, god/allah is the one and only god, muhammed is his last prophet after a series of prophets that include moses and jesus. peace be upon them all.

islamic scientists may divide in opinion wether shia are committing blasphemy or not, but on my own personal readings of quran and hadith, i read various times that any deviation from islamic teachings and following the footsteps of muhammad pbuh is a waiver of islamic submission.

peace.

Yes , shia aren't true muslims.

But they are already muslims.

And they say " there is no gad but Allah ".

But Allah support them when they are facing other religions but not muslims.

Because they consider the other religions' follower as the enemies of Allah.

And they must be killed.
