I'm a 15 years old. For the past seven months I have been much more sensitive then I used to be, and I get sad and angry at friends really easily. For a while, I thought it was just angst, a stage, or just some raging hormones since I am a teenager. But I'm starting to wonder.

Back when this started the feelings used to always pass after a while. but lately, they havent passed at all. in the past two weeks i've barely been happy at all, whether i was with friends or not.

So I started looking up symptoms. Heres all the symptoms I can relate to:
Suicidal thoughts- i have them daily
lack of interest in daily activities- all the hobbies i used to enjoy i just do to kill time now
overall feelings of helplessness and worthelessness-I dont think anything matters in the world nor do i really care for my own life and don't think much of doing anything
feeling of boredom- i'm bored all my life
lack of excitement- i'm not excited for anything, not school or hanging out with friends.

and basically everything along those paths. I have every emotional sign of depression, however, I don't have a decreased sex drive (in fact, I'm masturbating much more then i used to), want to eat more or less, or have that much trouble sleeping. the only change in my sleeping patterns is, I get sudden bursts of energy and hunger whenever i want to go to sleep, and i doubt thats related to this.

I talked to my mom about this and left out the sucidial thoughts. shes a school pyschologist so i figured she would know. if the feeling persists we are probably gonna get me a shrink or something at the end of the month. Is that too late though? Or am I just angsty?

Depression is a serious medical illness that comes in many forms with a variety of symptoms. If you have any of the following symptoms for a prolonged period (2 weeks or more), it may be time to seek help.
* Persistant sad or anxious mood
* Feelings of hopelessness or pessimism
* Feelings of guilt or worthlessness
* Loss of interest in hobbies or activities
* Fatigue or decreased energy
* Difficulty concentrating or making decisions
* Insomnia or oversleeping
* Changes in appetite or weight
* Thoughts of death or suicide
* Restlessness or irritability
* Headaches or chronic pain
* Change in sex
* Change in hobbies or activites

Sometimes an increase in activity is a way of trying to cover up depression or make it go away.

You could have a vitamin deficiency. Are you drinking lots of water? A viamin B complex helps with moods as well as 5000 mcg of vitamin B12 sublingual and omega 3 small fish oil. These may help supplement your eating. Just a slight deficiency could cause you to feeling blue. Has your physical activity decreased like are you staying indoors more? Try walking and gettin early morning sunlight. Try listening to some happy songs.

Heyy, well, it depends. I share most of your symptoms too ... I'm turning 14 in a couple months ... am I depressed too? ><;; Hmm ... but I used to be reeeaaaalllllly emotional around ... 2 years ago? Anyways, in 7th grade ... And, well, I used to cry everday, several times a day, over little, petty things. That phase lasted for a year ... You say that your symptoms have persisted for the past two weeks, so for now, I'd just suggest for you to wait for a bit longer ... See if they persist for ... months? And try to see how strong your newfound feelings/thoughts are ... Are you really contemplating killing yourself? (i.e. Uhh, I do it too, but 1/2 the time I'm not serious ... I just don't really see the point in life) ... If you feel that you need help, then I suggest you do talk to a psychiatrist or even more to a mom. Or possibly a friend ... I think you would be able to relate to peers a lot more ... In the meantime, maybe you've just outgrown your hobbies, or this has been mostly because of your hormones ... Try to channel your negative energy into something new ... Why not try to ... find new interesting things to do? Or set some long-term goals for yourself in life ... For example, losing weight ... getting A's ... whatever you want ... Or ... write suicidal songs/paint suicidal works of art instead ... And think about what happens ... when you kill yourself ... Your life ends ... (not that you don't already know that) ... but just think about it. You'll probably end up as ... Nothing. Do you really want that or would you prefer going on as life? To just exist within this cruel world is a blessing. <333

First, you need to see a doctor. I am especially concerned about the headaches. Constant headaches are not normal. Also, a doctor can prescribe some medications which may help balance your chemistry.

You sound depressed, and thinking about suicide is definitely not normal. Ignoring it could cause untold damage to you and everyone you know, especially if they care for you. Don't take this casually, there is nothing casual about depression. It is one of the most fatal diseases in America. In addition, your depressive symptoms could hurt your options for the future

Remember there is always hope, even though it may be hard to believe at times.

Also, and most importantly, THERE IS HELP OUT THERE THAT WILL LET YOU FEEL BETTER again. IT DOES WORK, I know I've been there.

Sounds like depression to me but you should get a more extensive medical and psychiatric evaluation from a specialist. I have been dealing with depression for the last 10+ years and can say that this might be a temporary situation that you are in or can persist for years. Get help, dont isolate yourself and talk to professionals, family, friends for advice. There are many great resources on the internet as well. Keep strong and know that you are not alone in this battle.

Sure you mayy be depressed but the first thing you need to do is to tell your mom and dad. You need to go to a medical dr. There may be real physical reasons why you are feeling this way. You need a complete physical and blood work done. Don't be afraid to confide in your parents and your dr. There is no reason you have to feel like this all the time but nothing is going to get better unless you tell someone. Good Luck and God Bless!

I am glad you talked to your Mom. I think that you do sound a bit depressed, you can wait till the end of month,but if you start feeling like committing suicide tell your Mom right away so that she can take you to the Doc right away. Stay safe..my dear.

It is possible. But you can't rely on a website or people on the web to tell you whether or not you are. You need to talk to your parents about getting you in to see a psychiatrist.

You sound awfully mature for a fifteen year old...so maybe you can talk to the school nurse...and express your thoughts to her or go to your family doctor...do not hesitate..maybe you don't relate to kids your own age, but you need to talk to someone, you can trust...Good luck, and God bless
