She has ALL of the Baby Einstein videos and quite a few of their toys and books. She got those last Christmas!

The reason I am asking now is because I always start in September. Otherwise, I can't afford it all. We buy for our daughter, all of our siblings and their kids, and our parents. Oy!!

My daughter had many hours of fun with the Little People Farm made by Fisher Price...she played with it for years & wore it out. She also enjoyed a play TV remote, animal videos, & anything that made noise.

My girls love blocks and books. They love to be read to and they love to play with the blocks - building by parents and torn down by children. We also got window markers - made by Crayola - they color on the windows and when finished I get a clean window, just by washing the markers off. Color Wonder markers paper and books - they love to sit and color with us. My girls demand markers to color with and these are safe for them to use in the car, in the house, at someone else's house, the doctor's office, etc. We also gave them DVD's that they truly enjoy (not baby einstein). We would borrow movies from the library preview them before we showed them to the children and then if they were okay the kids saw them. If they sat rapt attention for 15 minutes this was a good buy (they love the Wiggles - they sing, they dance, they watch and I can get a shower). Also, if she is getting a lot of toys - rotate the toys - take all the old toys, box them up and put them away for a few months and then bring them back and put all the other toys away for a few months. You get a lot more use out of the toys and the kids don't notice and they think they just got a whole bunch of new toys. At 18 mos - you could get her a fisher price slide that can be set up inside your house - she climbs and slides and she will play with this most of the winter and you won't have to try and take her to a park for the winter months when it is too cold outside.

I just bought my daughter the Leap Frog Little Leaps Video Game system. It is for kids 9-36 months. There are 3 games for kids 9-24 months and one game for 24 months +. There are more games coming from what I understand. The system works with a DVD player and we got ours for about $40 at Wal-Mart. Games are $17.

Hope that helps!

My 20 month old son loves the fisher price piggy bank, it encourages counting and is also very cute! Little einstein or baby einstein videos always a plus.

At 18 months old she doens't care about what's in the present, she just wants the wrapping. There are lots of squishy things you can wrap in a box and inexpensive paper that she will be exstatic over. One is never too young for books either.

You might want to try the "Baby Einstein" line of educational toys-- they make all kinds of stuff, fairly reasonably priced. You can find them at Target
