It is sad that you are pining away for public school when you have such a wonderful opportunity such as home-school in your grasp.

You really should relax and know that you can do much better if you apply yourself to your studies. College will come soon enough. It will be more "public school" than you can stand.

Do your very best with the tools that you now have. Home school is what your parents have chosen for their family -- it is their job. You can choose for your own children someday. For now, be obedient, loving and kind--- do your work. Study to become the smartest that you can be.

First of all consider that your parents may be more aware than you are of what's going on in the public schools where you live. Respect that they believe they are doing what is in your best interest.

I have to ask: why have you always wanted to go to public school? What do you think is going to happen there that doesn't happen while homeschooling? Is there a way for you to get that missing element while homeschooling?

If you still really want to try again, take the time to write out your reasons for wanting to go. Keep in mind the specifics of why your parents don't want you in school. Address their concerns as much as you can.

Above all, though, accept that they are your parents and they are doing what they feel is right for you.

Don't convince them. I wish I was home schooled. Public schools are retarded, and with this new "no child left behind" law they are getting worse. If the class is covering a topic you already know well you have no other choice but to sit there and wait till everyone else learns it, instead of just demonstrating that you have the knowledge and moving on. You don't know how good you have it, but you will be grateful later in life.

Do you have extra-curricular activities?
Do you have a group of friends?
Do you have a good social life?
Are you happy besides the public school experience?

Public schools may provide contact with many people, but the education level is highly lacking compared to homeschooling. 1 teacher / 25-30 kids does not compare to 1 teacher / (usually 1 or 2) depending on how many kids the family has.

If you have a good social life. You aren't missing out on anything besides exposure to drugs and peer pressure.

I wish you luck.

I don't know if you can. Parents that home school have some good reasons and bad reasons... but mostly they are set in their oppinions. If you feel you are behind achidemically because of their decision you could try and go to a community college and get a standard test to place your grade level and show that you are behind. If it's a social thing, you could join some social clubs. Basically I think kids can do very well or very poorly with homeschool.. it all depends on the kid and the parent.

you should be glad that your parents actually care about you,and don't just drop you off at school where you spend 8 hours a day stuck in a classroom full of stuck up snobs, bully's,drug addicts, and pregnant 15 year old girls.I'm 14,and my parents were smart enough to know that public schools have gone down the drain, and that I would have so many bad influences there, they didn't want to have to worry about me getting pregnant,or worse. The pros to home schooling are, sleeping in(no getting up at 6!) having extremely shorter school days(I only do about an hour or two a day) having more time to hang out with friends, and being able to have a better relationship with your parents.and don't worry about friends, anyone can make friends anywhere, and you'll actually be able to hang out with them,so don't listen to the myth that you'll be locked away in a closet, never coming out of the house to see people, its A LIE! good luck, and give home schooling a chance,PLEASE!

well, it depends on what their objections are. i used to homeschool my son, until he decided he wanted to go to school. both homeschool and school are perfectly fine, imo. it depends on the individual kid's needs. most parents i knew, who refused to let their kids attend school, when the kids requested, had some fear that school is a "bad influence"

if they are afraid it will be a "bad influence" (whether because of your family's religious beliefs, or because they have fears of "sex or drugs", or because they fear you will be "indoctrinated" by school, or whatever), maybe you can appeal to them by pointing out that they have done a good job instilling their values into you, and that those values will continue to be in place when you go out into the world (which you will, eventually, homeschool or not).

also, if you want them to give you a fair hearing, please also do the same for them. perhaps they have some kind of legitimate reason. for instance, the junior high I attended was literally dangerous. i was sitting in science class one day, and someone shot a gun through the window. i wish i had been homeschooled then! ;-)

good luck, my personal opinion is that kids need to be allowed to help in making their own life choices. be well

sorry, but usually parents are smarter than kids, i know you don't see that now, its okay. you will in future. if you want to spend 7 hours a day, learning 2 hours worth stuff, go ahead and waste several years of your life in public/government schools. you'll be way behind your homeschooled friends though.

home schooling is a choice parents make for their own reasons.
if your parents do not want you in public schools then you probably will not go to public schools.
I would recommend that you talk to your parents rationally and explain why you want to go to public school.
But, I think there are many advantages to being home schooled.
