Not necessarily a bad idea, as long as you make sure you do it.

Giving money or tithing to the Church's only makes the church richer and more powerful. Keep your money or give it to an orphanage or a soup kitchen. It will really count to help those who really need it.
When Church's don't get the tithe each week they will soon die out and then people will have to look at the real problems in the world.

Tithe Is NOT part of the New Covenant...
You are suppose to support your church, the law of 10 % was done away with when Christ died on the Cross.
However a church can not stay open without support from the members.

God uses the tithe to be able to expand his church and to bless others. When you tithe know that God sees your faithfulness and you will be rewarded accordingly. also don't ever put your faith in Man, he is only human and can fall in to temptation at anytime. i hope that doesn't happen in the church where you attend! I have tithed and I have reaped the benefits. I am financially blessed b/c i put God first and gave him back only 10% of what he has given me!! I personally wouldn't put away my tithes b/c i know that i would have missed out on countless blessings

Yes, you can do that. Just be sure to get your will written appropriately.
However, I might suggest that if you spend three years at one church, you should probably be contributing...In addition, if the church is having troubles, they probably need your contribution more than any other church!

WHAT A NOVEL IDEA. BUT CHURCHES DO NEED MONEY EVERY DAY TO RUN ON JUST LIKE FAMILIES. IF YOUR GOOD AT SAVING THIS WOULD WORK. SOME JUST GIVE A CERTAIN AMOUNT TO THE CHURCH IN THEIR WILL.

Many people bequeath large amounts of money to churches, charities, etc. in their wills. I also set up annuities for people that have a death benefit to their church, but money for them to live off of in retirement. It's not that uncommon at all.

Or you could stipulate in your will that 10% of your estate would go to the church.

It sounds like a good idea, but I'm not sure if God like it that way.Read Malachi 3:7-10.
Would you prefer that God keep your blessings, prosperity, protection, guidance and all He has promised you till you are dead?

Well I disagree for two main reasons. It will be very tempting to keep it as a loan box and then you think it's mine and I don't have to pay back and two if you believe it is the lord's money then don't you think you should give it to him? In real life if your going to pay them later then they charge intrest. In my eyes that gipping the lord.
