i suffer really bad from this condition and thought i was the only person in the world with this painfull condition.im 36 and quite healthy well untill this anyway,i get medium pains evertyday with very bad ones depending what i have done throughtout the day,im tempary off work right now have been for bout 3 months,and i have had enough now,im seeing a reumatology doctor in about 2 months can they really help??? ive had this for 18mths now lost my nursing job which im so sad about and now been signed off work for 3 mths till i go have tests done as im a special needs teacher as well. some days i get the pains so bad i cant breathe and almost pass out through worry???? is anyone else suffering like me cos im having trouble coping with every day things now!!!!!!!!!!!! please write back with any help xxxx

if i have lifted anything or even hoovered within a few hours i get sudden stabbing pains so stronge it takes my breathe away and 4 times i have had 6 or so sudden pains in one go thats when i pass out as i cant breathe not through panic i just cant!!

From what I understand about your condition, it is extremely painful! I am so sorry - my heart goes out to you. I certainly know what it is like to try and live a normal life when a part of your body just won't stop hurting!!

The one suggestion I will make is that you see a Pain Specialist. my guess is that you are going to need the expertise of a Pain specialist to assist you in coming up with a pain medication regiment that gets you more comfortable because once the pain management is worked out for you, you will be able to get some normality back in your life because I sense a certain amount of frustration!

Also listen to some relaxing music and drift because I also sense anxiety - it really does help a person to relax..

huh? I have costochondritis ( since Oct 2005) and I work everyday as a RN
take Nsaids
pass out thru worry? sounds like you need to get anxiety under control
