It could be TMJ (I can't remember what that stands for) basically your jaw is misaligned or something and if it's bothersome or painful or locks into place all the time, they can break your jaw and realign it correctly. But that's extreme. I had a mild case of TMJ, but never got it "fixed". If it's just clicking, don't worry too much about it, but if it causes lock jaw alot...THEN I'd worry about it and talk to the dentist about it again. I also heard this may be because of people clinching their teeth when they sleep and they should get a mouth gaurd or something that prevents you from clenching your teeth. I'm bad for doing that too. Good luck.

When I was in high school my jaw popped so loud people could hear it 6 or 8 feet away. It took care of its self after a couple of years. Heat helped a lot.

The mal-alignment can be corrected with a temporary mouth splint that the dentist can provide to ensure the joint continues to work properly.

You may have TMJ issues going on here. Ask for a referral to see an oral surgeon. they are trained to handle these issues. If your dentist won't refer you then look for a new dentist. While your at it look for an oral surgeon too.
