why did you buy the truck! they are idiots obviously, but to buy a truck without having a good look under the body! And it's only illegal if the dealership signed a contract with you stating that the vehicle was road ready, inspected and and approved.

In MA there is this thing called a Lemon Law, I believe it last for a year after the sale of a used car has been made. Sounds like you got screwed buddy, I'd have them take it back and go look for a dealer who's more reputable

It depends if you bought the truck "As Is" it is a really hard thing to deal with check your local laws and see if you have so many days after purchase to return for service or replacement or if your stuck. I myself would inquire of a good lawyer.

It depends if you signed a contract saying that you were buying the vehicle "as is" there is nothing you can do about it. In the future have a mechanic check it out before you buy.

If it's an item subject to your state's vehicle safety inspection, then yes it is illegal. If that is not subject to the vehicle safety inspection, then Caveat Emptor applies.
