I'm Italian and have been cooking for most of my life. (I'm 59.) Traditionally I would serve ravioli in tomato sauce either marinara or meat based. However, tradition and times have changed. Veggies are not unknown in Italian fare and generally what was included in the meal depended on the season. Nowadays all sorts of veggies are available both fresh and frozen so, if you like, add whatever veggies you want as a side. I would recommend broccoli florets in an herbed garlic butter based sauce along side ravioli. (Getting hungry again!) Actually, when entertaining, I've served a chilled Italian green bean salad (green beans, black olives, roasted red pepper) tossed with a red wine vinegar, olive oil vinaigrette with pasta dishes. It's always ok to break with tradition as long as you enjoy the results. I live and cook by two sayings one Latin, the other Italian:
De gustibus non disputandum est! (No accounting for taste!) My sort of anything goes rule.
Che non amazza, ingrassa! (What doesn't kill, fattens!)

Cooked Broccoli goes well with ravioli-- you just mix it in with the ravioli sauce. If you have children in the home, you could even push a pea into each individual ravioli to make it more colorful, or put peas around the plate in the shape of a heart, and fill it in with raviolis. Children love little fun things like that. :-)
Vegies are VERY important to eat with every meal. Further, corn on the cob would go good with raviolis.
Sorry to your husband (us men should stick together) but on this one, I have to agree with you. Vegies do go with ravioli.

A blend of traditional italian vegetables would be a nice addition -- tell your hubby to think along the lines of pasta primavera! Broccoli, cauliflower, zuchinni, green beans or sugar snap peas, and bell peppers would be a lovely side. Besides, he needs the fiber. It's good for him!
OR...a salad! That's veggies. They even do that when you go to upscale Italian restaraunts, and since it is before the main course, I'll bet he rarely thinks of it.

Well, certainly you'll need a vegetable with your meal.
You could have a caesar salad, peas, green beans, artichokes...the list is fairly long, really.
Maybe you could roast a selection of squash and some eggplant, and call it antipasto...
Another alternative is to get ravioli with vegetables in them...spinach and mushrooms are fairly common.
