I have a hiatal hernia and I would get sick shortly after I ate (like within 15 minutes). This is because a hiatal hernia is where part of the stomach pushes up around where the esophagus connects to the stomach. When you eat and the stomach gets full, it pushes on this and can cause the stomach to hurt or a sick feeling. This would happen to me even if I only ate a little bit. I would feel like I had eaten a Thanksgiving meal. I'm on an over the counter acid reducer and it has helped a lot. It might be something he needs to get checked.

Yes. There can be nausea associated with an ulcer, but eventually it just really starts hurting. It could be a lot of things though, and a doctor will be able to tell. In the meantime, over-the-counter stomach coating liquids or Prilosec may give some relief.

Hmmmmm. Usually, ulcers feel better after you eat, but maybe not. He can get an H. pylori test (a blood test) which is a pretty good indicator of an ulcer. Or it might be irritable bowel syndrome (not always in the intestines--mine makes my stomach cramp if I overindulge on sugar and fat) or acid reflux or allergies or a disease like celiac disease where he's missing an enzyme to digest wheat or some other substance. He should get it checked out regardless.

Yes, or it might just be heartburn. He may want to see a doctor if it's been more than a couple of weeks and hasn't resolved.
