Depends on what your view of God is.... is He good or only good on occasions?

If a person doesn't believe in Satan, then they would have to blame God for all of the injustice, hatred, deceit and cruelty that we see in the world today. The Bible says, "The whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one."(1 John 5:19). In the Garden of Eden, Satan questioned God's right to rule. He called God a liar who with-holds good from his subjects. He implied humans would be better off without God's rulership. Adam and Eve rebelled against God and thus joined Satan's rebellion. Because of this, we have all the problems we see in the world today. So once again, if a person doesn't believe in Satan, they are blaming God for what Satan is really responsible for...all of our suffering. And, that is not fair.

I guess that would depend on what religion u r in. For me I do believe in Satan. Ask yourself this Q Where is all the evil on earth coming from? Or Why is there so much sin? I can't see him but i certainly can see & have to face evil every day. My only hope is turning to God. So even if there is or is not a Saten that gives people more reason to look to God for reassurance & guidence. Showing our beliefe in God shows that we do put our trust in him even if there is a wondering beast that causes fear & rage on the place that we live in.

Ya but it depends on what you mean by "belief." If you mean "does worshiping God justify worshiping satan" then the answer is no. But most people who believe God is real believes Satan is also real.

In ancient Jewish tradition Satan is simply an angel doing the work that God assigned to Satan to do.

The word Satan means challenger. With the idea of Satan challenging us, or tempting if you will. This description sees Satan as the angel who is the embodiment of man's challenges. This idea of Satan works closely with God as an integral part of God plan for us. His job is to make choosing good over evil enough of a challenge so that it becomes clear to us that there can be only one meaningful or logical choice.

Contrast this to Christianity, which sees Satan as God's opponent. In Jewish thought, the idea that there exists anything capable of setting itself up as God's opponent would be considered polytheistic or setting up the devil to be an equally powerful polarity to god or a demigod.

Oddly, proof for The Christian satan/devil mythology is supposedly found in the ancient Jewish texts that were borrowed to create the bible. One can’t help but wonder how Christians came up with such a fantastically different interpretation of Gods assistant Satan in their theology.

Other hints about Satan’s role in human relations can be seen if you look at the name Lucifer. It meaning in the original tongue translates as Light bearer or light bringer. Essentially the bringer of enlightenment. The temptations of the Satan idea bring all of us eventually into Gods light. Hardly the Evil entity of Christian mythology.

Well, essentially if you believe in God , then you believe the scriptures. And since the scriptures tell about Satan and hi fall and the fact that there will be another day of reckoning then, yes, there must be a Satan.

No I believe in a god but not a satan. Evil is an invention of the primitive mind like ours. I believe god has moved on beyond this.

Well, yea, but just because you believe there is a Satan, doesn't mean you follow him.....in the Bible it says Satan was an angel....but then he got greedy and wanted to be God, that's why he is where he is.

Yes. If Christians say "No" then they are picking and choosing the things that Jesus/god said, which means that they don't really believe Jesus/god which means that they really aren't Christians. So, if you're a christian then you have to believe in the devil, he is a part of the bible, he is a part of Christianity. And no, I'm not a christian.

I would say absolutely. If Satan did not exist, then there would be no reason to fear God.
